TrueOrigin
All spells, whether cast by me or opponent, trigger a CTD when I am hit, but only whilst in first person mode. Is this a known problem?
MShoap13
Could be a missing animation. Do you have any mods that affect first person animations running? If so double check that all of their resources that end up in the \Meshes\...\_1stPerson\ folder are there.
TrueOrigin
How am I supposed to know what animations are supposed to be there? I use direct extract, no save and unzip. Every time my internet shuts down to update, I lose my download log.
MShoap13
This is why every single mod's instructions tell you to fully download the archive, extract it to a temporary location, and then cut and paste it to your \Data\ directory. General computing 102: Make backups of ****ing everything! <-- needs a demotivational. I'd try to download any suspected mods (DR UV Animation mods, Magic overhauls, etc., etc.) and find out if any of them are working correctly. It'd be nice if Wrye Bash and OBMM had missing resource detectors built in. I suppose you could manually try running through the suspected plugins and seeing if you can find a resource referred to in them that isn't where it's supposed to be. I'd probably try to narrow it down by turning mods off one at a time and hoping you can find the culprit.
TrueOrigin
That's a lie, most mods do NOT tell you to DOWNLOAD the mod, just extract the files, it doesn't say to save. The only one I have that mods spells, is UVII, nothing has modified it since, and this problem is recent.
MShoap13
Then try deactivating UVII. If that fixes the crash then the issue is most likely with it. Reinstalling should get it working properly again...
kingtitan
@TrueOrigin There is really no need to get all smart about this, Mshoap is only trying to help you out. After all, he is right, and modding 101 is to save a copy/backup of ANYTHING you aren't sure about (mod files or vanilla); regardless of whether or not the mod's author puts in explicit instructions to do so. How am I supposed to know what animations are supposed to be there? I use direct extract, no save and unzip. Every time my internet shuts down to update, I lose my download log You should know what animations are supposed to be there because you were the one that installed them, most mods are either all animation or none at all. Without a load order, or any recollection of what you have installed there honestly isn't much we can do for you. If you are willing to be a bit less stubborn and considerably more cooperative, I'm sure we can help you out. fore
Guys, I don't think animation is the problem here (if there is no other "bad" mod involved). As far as I can see, UVII does the same DR6 and other mods are doing: copy 3rd person vanilla animations into the _1stperson folder. And TrueOrigin said "when I am hit". If an animation is bad, CTD comes sooner, TrueOrigin, you can test that by simply moving all 6 kf files that start with "cast" (castself.kf, castselfalt.kf, ...) from your data\meshes\characters\_1stperson folder into a temporary folder, When you still get the CTD it has nothing to do with UVII cast animations. TrueOrigin
Where are the third person cast animations?
MShoap13
\Meshes\...\Characters\_male\ The game uses that directory for male and female vanilla animations.
