JShufflez
The actors load fine in the cell. However it crashes randomly when I'm in their vicinity. I don't crash when there are no NPCs and I very rarely crash in interiors. I notice its usually at least 4 or more NPCs in my cell when I get the crashes. I'm thinking its either my craptop or bugged scripts. I have near or over 200+ mods with 120 plugins. (I use Merge Plugins) I have a really low-end card and I run on high presets despite only running good framerates at medium. I mainly use gameplay and immersion mods and not many texture mods. My laptop occasionally runs out of memory and minimizes/closes applications but I didnt get any popups while playing FNV. Help me out. dubiousintent
Without more detail we can't really help you much. As you suspect, most likely it is due to your "craptop". Does it meet the game's minimum requirements? If not, what can you really expect? In particular, ALL NPCs have scripts which put a load on a processor. Crashes on cell transition will happen more often the more mods you have that affect NPC's & levelled lists. You can't run different mods like that, reliably, without a "bashed" or "merged" patch. The "Bashed Patch" of "Wrye Flash" has a "setting" that lets you limit the number of NPCs in a cell. (Links in the "troubleshooting" post referenced below.) It's always useful to post your "load order" (LO) (in "Spoiler" tags. Use the "Special BBCode" button in the "Reply" menu bar). "LOOT" can copy your LO into a file suitable for posting here. (It's under the ":" with three dots to the extreme right in it's menu bar.) I offer some standard troubleshooting advice [here]. -Dubious-
JShufflez
Great, thanks. I edited in my load order in the 1st post. My laptop can run the game, has 4GB ram.Everything works but the GPU is just barely at the minimum mark (Radeon HD 5470) and the game is stable on medium without shadows or extra stuff. I have over the plugin limit which used to crash my game but I merged some plugins via Merge Plugins, not bashed or merged patches and the count is below 130. The game is pretty stable aside from bad stuttering issues due to my specs, but it works. The crashing I know is an anomaly because it used to play with exactly zero crashes despite the framerate. I have YUPs bugfix patch and other anti-crash plugins. The game works for a bit now after some manual load order sorting and starting a new game, lets me play for 5-10mins or so around NPCs without crashing at least. I'll still want any more input on this if there's a quick fix. Edited May 31, 2016 by JShufflez
dubiousintent
You may not realize it, but Windows (by default) only gives 32-bit games like FNV 2GB of RAM. The rest is reserved for the OS. It is possible to squeeze out a few more bytes of RAM for games (up to about 3GB) by tweaking the BOOT.INI file, using a 4GB Loader, and reducing the number of background apps that are running (things like running the Steam Client in "offline mode" and disabling your AV). Increasing your swap file space may also help with the stuttering. The subject is covered in the "2-4GB game memory limits and solutions" article in my signature. Have you installed the mod "New Vegas Stutter Remover"? You may need to tweak the INI file (in the Data\NVSE folder) but that should help in that area. You need a "bashed" or "merged" patch, to resolve record level conflicts and "levelled lists". Crashes on cell transition will happen more often the more mods you have that affect NPC's & levelled lists. You can't run different mods like that, reliably, without a "bashed" or "merged" patch. -Dubious- Edited May 31, 2016 by dubiousintent
JShufflez
So far I have ENBboost, NV stutter remover, better game performance v5 and the latest YUP bugfix. The game runs pretty stable except for the horrible stuttering. I run NV on a 4GB loader with the script extender. All of these helps with the stuttering but its still unmanageable to play with. My FPS plays at a stable rate as long as I don't move the player camera. Is there a difference with merging esp/esm's with Merge Plugins to merging via bashed/wrye patches? dubiousintent
There is a difference between merging for a "patch" and merging "plugins", based primarily upon whether or not the merged plugins are conflicting. You can manually create a merge which deals with conflicts, but it is similar to a "bashed" patch. The difference is that the manual method gives you total control over which "wins" the conflict. It is possible to create a merge patch that is "patching" the "bashed" patch, but I've never had the need to do so, yet. Otherwise the recommendation is to not use both at once. Merging non-conflicting plugins will only reduce your active plugin count. It won't particularly help with stability or stuttering that I am aware of. More than likely you will find some mods that have unexpected interactions when merged. When you say "move the camera around", do you mean merely standing still and panning, or moving? IF the latter, do you have a game controller attached or enabled? In that case micro-stutters can come from the game looking for control inputs from the controller first, then the keyboard/mouse. Disconnect the controller if you are not using it, and in the "C:\Users\<YourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout_Prefs.INI" file look for "bGamePadRumble=" and ensure it is set to "0". You may need to tweak the settings of NVSR. Make sure the MinimumFPS and MaximumFPS settings cover a reasonable range like 15-60. The download page has some suggestions. The "HeapAlgorithms" have to be tested. There is no one setting that works best for all; they are very hardware dependent. In general "stuttering" is caused by a lag between when the game calls for video data that has to be read from disk. Every disk read except for "solid state devices" (SSDs) is thousands of times slower than from RAM. Larger amounts of system and video RAM reduce this by permitting preliminary buffering of more video data in memory than is needed to display the current cell. The more screen and color resolution, and higher quality (size) of textures you use increase the amount of memory required to display each cell exponentially. The more needed for display of each cell, the fewer cells that can be buffered. The only options within a given set of hardware are to lower those demands by smaller screen resolution, fewer colors, or vanilla quality textures. -Dubious- Edited June 3, 2016 by dubiousintent
