CryptorX
Hi there... First of all my english is not the best so forgive me any misspelling errors... Like the title suggests i'd like to know if anyone has a clue about the system requirements and when are the official ones going to be revealed, i have searched a lot and the only ones i found were either unofficial or just hunches but most of all not consistent at all, some say that this new engine will be much more optimized than gamebryo so the game should consume less resources (i find that a bit hard to believe), some other say this will be like crysis when it came out (it took two years until we got graphic cards capable of running it on max settings). So, as you might imagine this is leaving me quite confused and a bit scared that my pc might not be able to run it as i'd like to, which is smoothly and with a good image quality. There are "only" four weeks left until Skyrim's release and i think it's time for us to know the official requisites instead of simple predictions that say we must have a graphic card with 512MB that supports DX9 compatible on the recommended system like this one, yeah right... My relevant specs are: i7 920 2.66Ghz @ 3.33Ghz6x2GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz CL8Gainward GTX 570 "Goes Like Hell" version I am somehow convinced that i should be able to run it with at least some quality but i am also concerned that this this game is going to be a big surprise in terms of visuals not to mention physics which are quite demanding but about physics i can always use my old GTX275 as a physics card, but i am still worried... I don't have any guess about the recommended specs but i have read that Skyrim will have a huge view distance and i think it is safe to assume that it will have huge graphical improvements compared to games like Fallout New Vegas so this leads me to believe that it will be much more demanding but in the other hand, if you take a look at Fallout New Vegas and increase the view distance on the fallout.ini file to allow a greater view distance you'll see that either the game crashes or it starts lagging or with micro stuttering problems which clearly shows that gamebryo has some serious limitations not no mention that is poorly optimized so if Skyrim is going to have a huge view distance, then this new engine must be much better than gamebryo, and by much better i mean more optimized which normally translates into a better quality/resources ratio... but once again, this is just a guess... Does anyone have some based opinions about this to share? Thanks in advance... PS: I guess i just need someone to tell me to calm down... I tried talking to myself in front of a mirror but i know it's me!...btw...i am not addicted to The Elders Scrolls games, i just cannot imagine my life without them, that's all... Denval
You will be able to run the game fine. The game is consolefied to hell so don't expect it to have ball breaking specs or anything. I just tell people that if they can play battlefield 3 ok then they will probably be able to play skyrim without a doubt.
NAPALM13092
The Creation engine Skyrim uses is basically Oblivion's Gamebryo 2.0 so don't expect anything nuts. The game should also be far better optimized than Oblivion was which was to say not at all. Bethesda didn't have their hands on the engine for Oblivion till the last fiscal year of Oblivion's development so it was this mad rush to put out something that looked like a videogame. Since with Skyrim they have had 5-6 years to sink their teeth into the current console generations hardware (as sickening as it is to say that) and their own engine Skyrim should run very smooth (I hope) and handle LOD much better than Oblivion did despite the fancy new particle effects and textures. Long story short if you can run Oblivion maxed out with texture packs and graphical upgrades just fine then you are more than likely in the green to play Skyrim on decent settings. My educated guess is any dual core or better processor from the last few years, 4gb of RAM or better, and any video card in the $130 or better price range would run Skyrim as smooth as butter. It will have it's "shiny" moments as it isn't Minecraft or Pong but it is nothing like Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2 where the system requirements are almost an e-peen selling point.
