mblache
I posted this in the wrong forum <witcher tech> when i needed it for <witcher 2 tech> so i thought id put it here too..sorry for the mistake hello all. I'm hoping you can help me. I have a brand new Asus Essentio. it has a AMD Phenom II X6 1065T processor 2.90 GHz , 8 GB of ram , OS is Windows 7. the graphics card is a Gforce gtx 550 Ti with 2 gb memory and the grahics drive is version 280.26. its a desktop PC Cm1730 series. lol yeah its a lot of info but i am hoping it helps. The game crashes every 5 minutes or so but otherwise it runs great. I did some homework and so far i did the command promt thing where you type the bcdedit /set ect. I also did the 3d manager where i selected the wicther2 file out of the bin folder. i have version 2.0 of the game installed. I have done all the updates i can get and i am still having trouble. any assistance you could offer would be greatfully appreciated) thanks in advance)
tommy5761
The bcd edit you tried is valid for 32 bit systems only and won`t do a thing for 64 bit systems . You could try setting your texture memory to medium . You`ll find this in the configuration tool advanced settings . It should be the second or third setting from the top . Are you overclocking your video card ? If yes then try turning down the clocks to stock .
mblache
hi tommy. thanks for your reply) I am not over clocking my card and the texture memory is indeed set to medium. i even tried doing the msconfig trick to close uneccessary programs and such..im just totally stumped. cost me almost 1.000 dollars for this new computer and my old gateway ran this game better. i should have finished the game on it before i switched.( i think i need a 3.0 patch(
tommy5761
Some other things you might try is making an exception in you antivirus for the witcher 2 also if you use windows defender is add witcher 2 to the list of allowed programs . Something to try would be to temporarily disable UAC in control panel>user accounts to see if the UAC is interfering with the game . Windows 7 can be finicky if games are installed in Program Files and why i generally install my games to certain folders according to the developers

tommy5761
For example i have both witcher 1 & 2 so i created a folder and named it CD Project Red and installed both games to this folder . Same goes for Oblivion and soon to be Skyrim , Those will go in a folder named Bethesda
