I'm tired of sitting around and dream for this to happen, I've seen some work that would blow you mind and yet it never was finished or released. So here now I present the research and thought I've put into making this mod become a reality. It's going to be in 2 phases.The first will be the ground work such as the perks, abilities, special effects, sounds and so forth that will be the base to build on. The 2nd would be custom animations and armor but considering I just got blender to work on my computer a week ago and my current level, it's going to be a looong time before I can finish that part any time in the near future without aid, guidance, or a collaboration with others more proficient in that area. So here it is: :thumbsup: = done :whistling: = working on Hokuto ShinkenAn ancient art of assassination passed down through generations. Each time yielding one successor. In this mod you will have the ability to learn this art, as well as decide whether or not you will choose to the side of the Savior (True Successor) or Evil (The Destroyer). Each path has a unique set of perks and abilities. Some of the abilities are simply neutral and you'll be able to pick regardless of your alignment. While different you'll still be formidable no matter which path you choose. When I decided to make this mod I wanted it to be something one could pick as a specialization and truly focus on being an unarmed fighter the whole duration of the game without the need of guns. :Perks (A lot of the benefits and requirements will need immersion and further consideration.)http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z294/atherealprime/ScreenShot1.jpgHokuto Shinken: (1 Rank) :thumbsup: Requirements: Unarmed 40 Str:6, End:6, Agi:6, Per:6, Luck: 6 (Why luck? Because to be a Hokuto Shinken candidate you have to be a damn lucky person, or it's jut plain fate... Also boosts CRIT chance which is important.) Each rank will increase your relevant SPECIAL attributes +4, Unarmed skill: +10, DR: +10, +10 DT, Life: 50, +200 AP (your specials will cost lots of AP but equally effective), Also added some armor I edited in blender which I need to re-texture and a "Hokuto Student Weapon" :thumbsup: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z294/atherealprime/ScreenShot3.jpgI've consolidated the next 2 into 1 perk called Vital Points Mastery: Also gives more DT/DR Hokuto Choki Kokyu Jutsu: Water Breathing technique. Ability to hold breath double or triple the time underwater. :thumbsup: Hokuto Gedoku Jutsu: Technique that Cures Venom/Poison. *Poison/Venom Immunity. :thumbsup: Hokuto Suieishin (Water Spirit Reflection): A secret techniques that allows its user to learn another fighter's technique after witnessing it once. *Diminishing damage taken from consecutive attacks from the same opponent. The perk also lets you to learn karma specific hokuto shinken perks after a certain event or obtainment of Hokuto Successor Perk. Hokuto Hakkei no Hō (Method of Internal Energy Release): Allows the user to deflect/reflect projectiles. *deflect/reflect percent chance rate will be determined based on ranged weapon type, small guns (high), 2hsmall (medium) , big guns (small). Energy (smaller). Hokuto Senjukai Ken (North Star Thousand Punch Destruction Fist) Perk that Upgrades the damage and replaces Crack Fist or Combination Barrage. You learn Hokuto Muso Tensei (Unconscious Transmigration of Souls). You have truly become the Savior of these dark times. Requires Lots of Good Karma, All Ranks of Hokuto Shinken Perk. (Optional: Will also reduce your guns, big guns, and energy skills to 0.) NEAUTRAL Hokuto Shinken Successor Resignation: You've decided to submit and allow the successor-ship of the art to another. While you keep the powers and abilities you have gained, you cannot train any further. However what you have learned has increased your offensive ability on all fronts. +10 Crit Chance and +10 DMG for all weapons.Requires any rank in Hokuto Shinken. EVIL Hokuto Muso Insatsu (Unconscious Shadow Killer): Specialized technique that allows the user to predict an opponents movements, so to never be subject to a surprise attack. EDE like perk, Immune to Crits against self. +20 DR, +20 Crit chance. Requires all ranks in Hokuto Shinken. Akuma Tenryū Kokyūhō (Evil Dragon Breathing Technique): Unlocks 100% of the users abilities. Gives Toggled, or Permanent Buff on DR and Unarmed DMG. Abilities: (Planned to be Fose or Weapon Implemented. Will require certain levels in Hokuto Shinken Perk and other related skills.) Hokuto Shichisei Tenshin (Seven Stars Mark Spirit): The user moves towards the opponent in a pattern modeled after the shape of the Big Dipper. *Will work like a "Flash Step, Shunpo, or Instantaneous movement, to close distance between you and your opponent allowing you to land the first strike/auto strike. Requires 75-100 sneak and Silent Running Perk.Update: I've now decided to throw both versions of this in the game. One allows you to equip an item that slows time, but not your movement. You'll be able to simply "move out of" a sticky situation. The other does exactly what the primary description does and will be considered a more advanced technique. :thumbsup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2q60o-FKoM Hokuto Goshi Retsudan (Five Finger Explosion): No, you have a chance to knock away the weapon, due to the tricky nature of scripting of geck, Just have fun using vats and making their arms explode. :thumbsup: Hokuto Tomon Ketsu Hashisho (Full body Cripple): Breaks all the bones in the opponent but leaving the body intact. *Attack will do Just that with a moderate AP Cost and 100% chance. Hokuto Gosho Ha (North Star Iron Palm Wave): Requires Iron Palm 3 and Hokuto Shinken Perk. Fires a large projectile in the shape of a Ki Charged Palm to blow your opponents away. Hokuto Hagan Ken: Series of attacks that causes the opponents head to explode. Karma related abilities: EVIL Hokuto Kyomu Shidan (Nothingness Finger Bullet): Requires Evil Karma, and allows the user to erase memories for a period of time. Melee strike that has a 80-90% chance of doing the slaver mezmotron effect. Hokuto Shurenda (Combination Barrage): Like Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken but different and more gruesome death fx. Hokuto Rakangeki (North Star Multiple Slash Attack): Allows you to perform multiple cutting strikes. Attacks that puts bleeding damage over time effect on opponent. Tenshō Honretsu (Heaven's Command Charge): Fires a Large Blast of Ki at the opponent. GOOD Hokuto Tenha Kassatsu (Heaven Breaking Impalement): Badass Vats Attack that will send them flying. Hokuto Muso Tensei (Unconscious Transmigration of Souls): Enters you into a state of nothingness, The supreme and ultimate secret art of Hokuto Shinken. *Timed buff that makes you impervious to all physical attacks, 100% to Crit Chance, and Nearly Unlimited AP. Unlocks Seven star Obliteration. Hokuto Shichisei Massatsu (Seven Stars Obliteration): Allows you to pawn a large number of opponents without a scratch by letting you teleport hit them nearly all at once. Basically lets you use Hokuto Hagan Ken (head explode) on many people at once. I already know how I'll go about this. Requires acquiring of Musou Tensei & Hokuto Successor Perk. Hokuto Tenkai Senretsu Shō (North Star Dubhe Shattering Palm): Does a series of attacks ending with a Hokuto Gosho Ha (Iron Palm Pressure wave) with a much more powerful result. Replaces Hokuto Gosho Ha. So how do I plan to implement those abilities. They are proven to work through FOSE and Weapon enchantments and Vats attacks unique to NV.Until phase 2, there will need to be a convincing workaround for abilities. I plan to implement this workaround in the likely case mesh work and animation takes a long time whilst I'm unaided. These include custom weapon fx, impact fx, body fx, death fx, bullet time, and lots of scripting. An example would be spawning of glowing translucent alpha copies of oneself when you move during Hokuto Muso Tensei. These alpha copies would only have 1 hp and would attack/ distract the opponent.As cool as that would be with other fx going, it would probably cause a CTD from resource use. I'm currently exploring all options. QUEST I also plan to have a small quest that involves you having to face all of the other potential successors. Who you face will be determined by what Path you've chosen. These include, Kenshiro, Jagi, Raoh, Kaoh, or Toki as well as Hokuto Impersonator Assassins. So there it is. This is my WIP. I'd appreciate any suggestions, aid in any form such as source/mod resources, and especially aid regarding phase 2 of the project. My project will incorporate and give credit to any and all those who choose to join me, gotten inspiration from, and/or resources utilized. My mod will incorporate in some way concepts from jjx01's North Star Fist Mod but until I make any release feel free to enjoy that really really fun WeApOn!. I don't expect to receive much attention because this topic has been run into the ground because of so many dreamers and few doers. So just wait and see while I continue to upgrade my own gaming experience. This thread is really for my reference to keep track of my own ambitions. Here's the thing though, If you'd notice, this thread has been viewed around 70 times, and your the first person that has responded. This is only because there have been a lot of people wanting a HNK mod but few actually having the desire to create one. The reason is...as with any good mod, they take time and level of skill and hard work. There were maybe 6 people in the past 3 years who tried to make an HNK mod. Only 2 people really came up with "overhaul material", 1 made something that would make your head explode and then disappeared and dropped the project. The only person who finished his and made a post was cmal who did a really fun one for fallout 3. Go check it out, and endorse it and give him kudos. He was going to do it for NV and then dropped it, most likely do to lack of freetime or lack of support. Some things can be only done when several talented modders get together. Mind you these facts don't reflect negatively on the good people of nexus nor the community, nor the modders. They are free works and the harsh reality is, there just wasn't a strong interest in HNK or it required skill that few have. So what I'm saying is, @TheNorthStar, Just be patient, maybe when I finish mine, it might reawaken an interest in some of our really talented modders, or knock around with the geck yourself. Did you know that you don't have to know how to do everything to contribute at any point? Most advanced and really cool things done in game are all tied to a certain script. If you find the primary script that does the cool thing you want, you can cake on special effects around it after. If you find anything you might think, would aid in my endeavors please let me know. The moral of my unusually long reply? If you find a good mod you like, endorse it, and give kudos to the author. It's not easy making truly substantial mods, and less for those that do something noone has thought of (by a long shot). I'm going to make a few small mods of my own, but after that's done with I would love to help out on this mod. You should get permission to reuse resources from the other HNK mods out there. People tend to lurk things like this without responding, don't take it as a total lack of interest. I am just more exciteable than most. ;) I don't really have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, I can't model, and can't draw for crap. I write about as well as a high schooler (which I am certainly not anymore ;) ), and I am definitely an amateur coder. That said, as I learn I will absolutely be contributing -- assuming this mod is still going strong. I've only seen the old 86 movie, part of the original TV series. Never played any of the games except the original NES game. Never read the manga. But, if it's not obvious by my name, I'm a pretty big fan of the series. :) I wish you the best of luck and hope we can work together on it in the future. Just don't get demoralized by the supposed lack of interest, people are skeptical of new mods, and even more of supposed new overhauls. Better to release small pieces of the mod at a time, then pull it together into a larger mod. IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME! YOU CAN DO IT! OTHER MORALE BOOSTING EXPRESSION! The real problem is getting the most iconic stuff right and that's why you don't see many mods adding thingslike that. What would be the point of a character using the Hokuto Shinken if that character looked nothing special? The Warlord of the Wastes armour looks really good but I don't think it does Kenshiro justice. However I have no other ideas as to other materials I could use for the rest. Modder material is hard to find. If i recolored that warlord of the waste armor you'd see how it could fit. The problem is that 1) it's not on the Nexus anymore 2) it doesn't look anything like Kenshiro's body type. There are powerful modders out there but there is no guarantee they'd be willing to help. One of the most epic I know of at the moment is currently working on his own mod and juggling his own free time. So I'm sorta on my own. Which means: I'm gathering the core script code needed to do every cool thing I want to, from bullet time, to sound effects, flash step/blink, cripple effects, full body explodes, head explodes, delayed deaths, ect..., but stuff like custom animations, custom armor, custom hair, and custom visual attack effects, I'll have to generate myself afterwords. Hopefully If I finish and contribute something decent, it may catch the eye of a talented modder, and he/she may want to contribute to make it more awesome. That's the most realistic view I can have right now. Truly Overhaul mods require either one epically talented hardworking individual with genius abilities, or several great modders (possibly some genius working together). Don't let the lack of feedback bother you, I'm sure there are many players out there who would love a mod like this one... once it's finished. In any case that reminded me of my Fallout 2 Kenshiro character (with Bloody Mess for exploding heads). Playing such a character is always fun.
