NomDeKeyz
First, I apologize for asking when I *should* have taken note the first time I read about this... I am making my second mod for personal use; I can't imagine anyone else would be interested, lol.I have added containers to suit my needs and aesthetics in the IC shack for sale. I gave them newIDs, made them not respawn, but did not make them persistent. I *think* I am just about finishedand ready to play my mod, BUT, I am uncertain what to do now that I have the GOTY version... I read once about someone who had Oblivion and SI installed while he was creating a mod for useby those who only have Oblivion installed. I think he was instructed to uninstall both games, and thento install only Oblivion, and then make the final save of his mod for public use before he could reloadSI onto his computer??? Otherwise he had to check-mark both the Oblivion.esm and SI when loadingthe CS, and only offer his mod to those who had Oblivion+SI... *IF* I remember that story correctly, my question is what do I need to have checked off before the finalsave of my mod(s) if I am using the GOTY version? Must I load and check-mark SI along with the requisite Oblivion.esm? Must I also load and check-mark Knights too? Or does it not matter with the GOTY version? If I share my mod, will possible users also have to have the GOTY version or O+SI+Knights or just O+SI? Sorry I couldn't find the answer on my own (in an hour). Thanks in advance for your direction/responses.I'm sleepy now and ineffective at searching anymore, so I'll check back here when I wake. Thanks again. David Brasher
I don't expect that you will have any problems at all. You don't need to do anything special and neither do the people who download your mod. There are two versions of the CS. The really old one that predates the release of Shivering Isles and the new one. Everyone uses the new one. You should never use the old one unless you are building a mod with custom voiced dialog and are also using a copy of the new one. If your mod uses any content from Shivering Isles, such as containers from the expansion, then state in your readme file that Shivering Isles is required. If you don't use anything at all from Shivering Isles, then you don't need to say anything about it in your readme file. A file that lists no requirements is assumed to only need Oblivion without Shivering Isles or anything else. Knights of the Nine is pretty much just a big mod you pay for and not a true expansion. Many people play it a time or two and then deactivate it. Most mods are not dependent on Knights of the Nine, and some of them that are dependent don't even require the .esp, just the meshes and textures, although the rules state that Knights of the Nine mods are supposed to be constructed so that they don't work right if people don't have Knights of the Nine installed and activated. So generally, you do not need to worry about whether or not your mod is dependent on Knights of the Nine, because it never will be unless you go out of your way to include content from it. So to sum up my answer, I believe gamers will only need Oblivion and will not need Shivering Isles to use your file. (Unless you used some Shivering Isles chests or something.)
