Ozi27
Let's see if i can explain this right. My idea is to change normal helmets in oblivion for armores crowns and partial masks, like the ones worn by some characters of Saint Seiya(i leave some images for guide and example) the target of this is making head gear that respects the hair style you've chosen for your charatcer... and yes, i have tried the armored circlets mod,but i think it's way too femenine for a male character and they don't appear in the leveled lists as far as i know. And the mod that hides the helmets isn't good for me either, what i'd like to have is something that shows almost partially my character's hair, but also shows that the head is protected. Well,i hope this makes it clear... i think that if we can make it, it could be a very good mod. In fact, i'd try to do it myself, but i'm terrible with meshes and textures, but if somebody ends up trying to do it,contact me and i'll work along him/her providing 2D drawings to help in the design. Thanks in advance to you all  (Edit: Now that i'm looking at the images... wouldn't it be nice some sets of armor like the one that shows the redhead? ) Edited October 19, 2011 by Ozi27
JDFan
Thing is this game engine was not made to have open helmets with the hair still in place and in most cases unless you are making it especially for a certain character based on their head shape and hair style you'll wind up with very bad clipping issues with hair sticking out through the helmets in various places -- unless you make the things so big that they look weird also. razorpony
You can make open helmets as long as you use The Conformulator to make the mesh morph to fit different heads. You'll also have to make the helms use the tail or amulet slot so as not to make the hair disappear when worn. RP

RP True - but to use the conformulator the entire model has to be a single Nitristrip - and using the tail or amulet slot brings in some other challenges as well (like not being able to use them for beast races and \or them being hidden by some armors\clothes. (which is probably why Beth did not include any in the original game as they can be done but are a bit challenging and restrictive in their uses. razorpony
Agreed. So, possible, yes. But I wouldn't change the vanilla helmets. Instead I'd add new crowns or whatever to your leveled lists or vendor chests. RP
WarRatsG
using the tail or amulet slot brings in some other challenges as well (like not being able to use them for beast races The beast races don't really have much hair. Argonians just have spikes, while khajiits just have a mane - which would probably be covered by the helmet anyway.
