Prosthetic Limbs\cybernetics\mutations

Hi i have recently been thinking about how fun it would be to have some visual mutations. Then i started thinking along the lines maybe if your leg became infected you could get it cut of and replaced with a synth leg. Or a wooden peg. Or a old road cone. I have seen cross cybernetics. But i was thinking more of automaton robot builder for the player character. Clearly i have no mod experience because i dont even know if this would feasible.
