CS to fix Fighter's Guild Quest

Hi,

I've installed a few mods and all of a sudden the first quest in the Anvil Fighter's Guild has stopped working. I talk to Azzan who tells me that the Dunmer has a problem with rats, but no quest appears in the quest log. Is it easy to fix this using CS?

Thanks

The first thing you should do is find out which mod is causing the problem. If you don't have the Mod Manager or TESView you can just remove the mods from your load order one at a time and start the game, until the problem is gone.

If you decide that the mod's worth the trouble of fixing, the difficulty would be dependent on what mod it is. For some you might be able to just remove the conflicting data from the mod without any significant problems.

You can fix the problem via the console by using the setstage command (see below). However as Grumman suggests you need to establish which mod is causing the problem since it could give more problems further down the line. If the only glitch is the one you mention, the console will get you past it but if others begin to appear later you'll know which mod to turn off.

To establish the code you need to go into the CS with Oblivion as the Data folder. Click Character, then Quest, and scroll through the quests starting FG until you find the one you need. It will be one of the first ones. Then click quest stages. These appear as a list of numbers with the relevant journal entry beside them. You will presumably want the first one (usually but not always 10) to give you the quest.

Then in game open the the console and type Setstage code quest stage number. Note that the code must be entered in full with number and descriptor as shown in the quest list.
