Summons

So in all of the hundreds of previews and the long perk trees we have received some AWESOME info on how conjuration in the game will work.

We have seen/heard that there are spectral weapons, the ability to summon ghost animals, reanimate undead and summon atronachs... and there are perks for reanimates and atronachs.

However... we havent seen anything involving deadric bound weapons or armor, spectral bound armor, or any deadric summons besides atronachs.

Albino Dunmer and I have a theory that the possession of tomes for deadric summons will be either illegal or rare.

My theory is that its illegal, and so in order to not break the law, and to avoid being frowned upon for necromancy, people have turned to druidistic animal spectral summons.

His theory on the rare side of it is that the summons can be found at the Deadric shrine with which they are bound to (winged twilights= azura, seducers/saints/ shambals=sheogorath, Knights of Order= Jyg) which could allow for stronger summons to be available to lower leveled players.

So why do you suppose we havent seen any information on Deadric summons when they were often more prevalent in older games?

There could be many reasons why they haven't shown Deadric summoning, but I'd guess that if they had a player summon a creature to fight in one of the gameplay videos it would create a situation where you are watching the fight rather than taking part.

My big thing isnt that the PLAYER doesnt have any, but that the player hasnt ENCOUNTERED any. Hundreds of articles and playthrough experience, and yet nothing on deadra beyond atronachs which themselves were summoned by Dragon Priests.

I would have expected even a flame atronach or a scamp. But no... we see summoned wolves, cats, ghosts, and reanimates...

I understand that but they may be spawned in certain locations or there is level scalling involved. As the Deadric Princes are in it seems very unlikely that Deadra will not be in the game.

We know there is still 15 deadric artefacts to collect through shrines ala Oblivion, from the Achivements list.

Daedra are definitely in.

Bound weapons may be all spectral though and theres a small chance theres no Daedra summoning this time around based on the Conjuration perks ... :/

It could be that for whatever reasons they have not yet seen fit to show us other Daedra yet. I really, really hope they have Not totally messed up Dremora. i know, it's aprobably not a consideration for most people but considering I once ran a message board called Dremora Worship Society you can see that I am inclined to care :D Edited by nyxalinth

I felt like the Dremora were overdone in Oblivion, and that they could have been done better. The art direction in Skyrim is tremendously awesome, so I'm not too worried though.

As for Daedric conjurations and artifacts, I can see them being outlawed in all of Tamriel due to the Oblivion crisis, it has been 200 years... I think it would be cool to have a run-in with the law if you summon a Daedric Claymore, or possess artifacts or summon a Scamp or Atronach. :turned:

As far as I see it, not being able to summon daedra is perfectly coherent with the world's storyline.

After the Oblivion crisis, all the connections with Daedric planes were severed, so it may be now almost impossible to "reach there and drag something back".

No biggie, though, I've always been a necromancer when it comes to summoning.
