"Rearview Mirror" Mod in Oblivion?

Does anyone want to take a crack at making a mod that allows you to see what's going on behind you?

Here you are, strolling through the woods, picking ingredients for your next alchemy project when some wolf or bear attacks you from behind. Wouldn't it have been nice if you had a small, inconspicuous window at the top of your screen that let you see behind you, like you have in your car.

Or sometimes you pick a fight and suddenly find that you're in way over your head. Time to get out of there. Running...running...running... is that thing still chasing me? Well, let me just stop, turn around and see if I've outrun the big bad monster. Nope, still chasing me. Oh, too late to start running again because now it squished me. Too bad I didn't have my rearview mirror mod.

Is this even possible? I've searched and so far haven't found anything that can do this. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Firstly, you can't have the "picture-in-picture" form of rear-view mirror you want. I do think its possible however, that you may be able to make the camera turn around backwards while a key is pressed. Something about, changing the orientation of the player, then reversing the controls so forwards is backwards, yadah yadah yadah. You'd probably hit some delay before such a script kicks in though, so you just be making a 180* turn into the beast's maw.

Anything using keypresses would require OBSE, and be limited to what OBSE allows. That said, you'd be limited to obly being able to do the 180 turn, none of that walking forward, looking backward stuff. This is because no matter where you're looking, your body is always facing it. Even if you could get some sort of head tracking script to work, once beyond a certain degree the game will just force you to face it.

And, any sort of mirror, object or menu, just can't be done in Oblivion.
