Vagrant0
basically i want to know how to change the start position on oblivion, your own advice or a link to a tutorial or anything would be a big help, thanks.Alternate starts are a bit more complicated in Oblivion than they were in morrowind due to how everything within the chargen is utilized later. From a technical standpoint:The first thing you'd have to do is immediately move the player to where you want them on game start by changing some of the result scripting in the chargen quest. Then you'd have to initiate all the steps of the chargen in a different way. Start with show race menu, then birthsign, then class. Next you need to have a way for the player to get the amulet of kings. Then you'd need to complete the chargen quest and start the main quest. Don't forget to add the appropiate topics to the player so that they can show up in dialogues later. You also may want to add the option for the player to start off with some money or something. The problem really comes with explaining how the player got the amulet, how Barius knows the player, aspects involving the Dark Brotherhood quest, and a few other minor details. bben46
There are several good mods for an alternate start. One starts you off on a ship, another in a house. there are others. Search for start or alternate start in the file search. Be sure to pick one that allows you to somehow start the main quest. Or grab one of the many pre generated characters that people have posted in the mods. They are usually saved at the sewer exit with the basic equipment that you would have picked up if you went through the normal (training) start. If you are considering doing your own mod then look at what these others have that you might be able to emulate. Good luck as that is not one I would want to tackle.
