sharpshooter8
I just got fallout 3 for my birthday and started modding it. All was good until some mod messed up my game, I deleted the whole data folder and reinstalled and it all worked. I began installing mods again but the game kept crashing so i ran fo3 edit and master/plugin selection had mods that were no longer active or present in fomm or my data folder. anyway i continued and it said the problem wad that crossmod data.esm has to have master fallout 3 .esm loaded before it. I checked fomm and fallout 3.esm was first in the load roder crossmod wasn't even in the load order and is not present on my ocmputer or game files. To try to fix it i downloaded the crossmod.esm and loaded it in fomm making sure fallout 3. esm was before it, short story is still crashes and said that it needs fallout 3 .esm loaded before it. and fo3 edit still processes all my old mods that i dont even have any more on a fresh install of fallout, hows that even possible -_- So please I need someone to help me, i know it will be a lot of effort to find out the cause but i can't even say how grateful i would be if anybody can help me get this awesome game running :(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sharpshooter8
try to reinstall your gameThanks but i've tried that many times and it still processes all my old mods in fo3 edit that have been deleted. Fo3 edit still thinks that cross mod data esm is the problem even though it shouldn't exist in the game files ( checked the whole fallout 3 folder and fomm). Werne
Did you try reinstalling fomm, or starting the game without it? Â Wiping the load order from fomm files could work too, but I can't remember where it stores the list with active plugins. Â Edit: found the list of active plugins, here's the path: C:\Documents and Settings\*Your Username*\Local Settings\Application Data\Fallout3Â Â Try deleting the plugins.txt file (but copy it somewhere first) it will reset your load order and deactivate all plugins. sharpshooter8
Hey, thanks i tried reinstalling fomm and it worked but as soon as i loaded up some mods it had the same problem, that thing about the active plugins list seems like it could help, if you remember where they're stored tell me mate, thanks :)
sharpshooter8
Ok, ill try that, thanks for your help :)
Werne
Read my above post, it has the path to the plugins list. If that doesn't work try installing different version of the mod manager (one is for fallout 3 only and the other one is for FO3 and New Vegas but you don't need new vegas for the FOMM to work). sharpshooter8
Thanks for all your help but i tried it and it didn't work. I believe there is something wrong with fo3 edit is there a way to reset it so it has no master/plugin selection.
Werne
FO3 Edit shouldn't make problems when it comes to load order, it's not connected to the game in any way. Do you use a merged patch? if you do, remove it and remove FO3 Edit, then reset the load order by wiping the plugins.txt and try starting the game without mods. One of your mods might require a master file you don't have and that could be the reason for your crash. Also, can you post your current load order? sharpshooter8
yes success!!!!! i followed your method again and deleted a mod that caused it and can now run the game with all my mods. I can't use fo3 edit but would you mind telling me how to delete merged patches, i think thats the problem. But anyway my games fixed thanks so much dude you've been a great help (your giving a good first impression of these forums :D) Can i give you like kudos or something i don't know how it works :S
