Hallgarth
I have a custom gun that I've gotten into the game. Now while it's all fine with the animations 1st and 3rd person, the model/preview in the Weapons Workbench/Pipboy takes this wide arc, where the central point of rotation is way in front of the gun, so it rotates off-screen. Does anyone know what causes this/how to fix this? I'm thinking it has something to do with xrotation, such as the 44 has xtran44. I made one for my gun, but it didn't change anything. Edit: It seems to be connected to the barrel modification. Short and Medium are normal and rotate not perfectly, but still centerish, but the long barrel moves the mesh to the side for some reason. Hallgarth
In case I'm not clear in what I mean, this is what I mean. the gun with standard and small barrels rotate around the front of the barrel. The long barrels shift right out and orbit the centre. There must be some way of correcting this issue, something I've overlooked.http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u256/zoidgarth/Issue.jpg
KaelVirum
I'm using the Modern Firearms mod and from what I've seen in that there are some models that either don't rotate at all when viewing/reviewing them with certain mods enabled/highlighted or have a wide arch like you're getting. If you're like me, my answer won't really satisfy you but it's the best I have for you. Sometimes things just are and you either accept them and move on or spend way more time than needed looking into something. I'm not saying it's not possible to correct this, I haven't gotten this far yet with a mod, but as long as the gun works like it should in the gameplay area I doubt many people will actually see this as an issue. I hope this helps.
Hallgarth
In that case, I'll leave it for now. Just one of those little irritations.
KaelVirum
Trust me, I hate little irritations like that as well, especially when it's something that I'm working on, but sometimes, even if you don't plan on letting this go, taking some time away from the problem provides the solution. Hallgarth
Okay, this issue is still giving me grief and I'm wondering if someone who may have missed this thread before knows the answer.Issue is that depending on the barrel in pipboy viewer/weapon workbench, the gun shifts position and no longer rotates on its central axis, it either rotates as though the centre point is at the tip of the barrel of a few feet in front of it, meaning the gun disappears from sight as its now off screen. (only the short barrel rotates correctly)I can't find any difference in the nifs between the short and the other barrels, nor can I find anything that would be causing it in the CK. While not really game breaking, it is annoying, especially since I can't identify what is causing it.
Hallgarth
Okay, I fixed it. It was the Bounding Sphere in the .nif. I normalised the centre on the barrels and the guns now rotate normally. Edit: Wow, those pics I posted earlier are old. The gun looks quite different now.
