Linky1
Hello, modders.I am new to modding but came up with an idea, to redesign Hawkhaven, making it my own personal city. The idea kept getting bigger and bigger, and eventually i set myself a final goal, as it was getting too big. This mod now is planning to be a whole new 'world', like the shivering isles, but bigger. This will conclude of Hawkhaven(Re-done) and 2 other citys, 9 joinable factions, hundreds of quests, dungeons and items (weapons, armour sets, potions, spells and all that stuff) , new enemies and races. This world will be over 2 times as big as it would seem as there is underground networks under almost all of it, both halfs of the underground network owned by 2 of the joinable factions. There will also be a quest which sends you to a sky city (this is a fourth city) and the sea around the island you are on (the massive 'world') has dungeons and stuff in, this makes it also bigger. There will be new bosses too. This mod is done by only myself and my cousin ~(my cousin is only doing a few concept arts for ideas though) so far so may not be released for some time.It will be expanded some more, because i planned for more than 9 playable factions.I am open to suggestions and ideas.I am new to modding so I may not be able to understand everything you have to say, and I haven't really done any custome meshes or textures yet but I will learn how and do it soon, dont worry. This most definetly will not be lore friendly, as nearly all enemys and NPCs, items races and almost all of it is so far made up.Please post suggestions and ideas, things that could help and such, for anything, from weapons to enemys to citys. ScaredyCat
Wow, that sounds really big and complicated for a new modder. Good luck.I suggest adding some 'detective' work in your guests. Like following people, asking a whole town around, searching peoples houses, etc.I'm really missing things like that in the vanilla game.

Thanks, and great idea!I think I get what you mean,I will probably add it in as it would go well with my 'law enforcement' part of the mod, where there is very strict law , to the point that the rich people can hire guardds for there houses and shops, this also means there is more guards all over the place (not like hundreds, but you get the point) and having 'detectives' or 'investigators' around and maybe every sundas or something then everything gets searched, and sometimes stolen items are found and such, and you could hire detectives for certain objects to be found. Does that seem like something you would like? This could also form a sort of extra theives guild where you can hide stolen items in there hideouts and some of the theives have a secret compartment or passage that leads to some area with containers for storage safe from the detectives.I will definatly consider it and if I dont do it for whatever reason, I will put something small like it in, so your idea is still included.I dont believe I posted it in the first post but I have included player houses, which could also have a 'secret theif tunnel' or whatever installed into it.. for a price :) Thanks for the idea by the way :DAny other ideas are welcome! WarRatsG
The idea kept getting bigger and bigger, and eventually i set myself a final goal, as it was getting too big. This mod now is planning to be a whole new 'world', like the shivering isles, but bigger I have to admire your ambition :)A whole new world... Like Nehrim? Impressive  I really do admire your plans and enthusiasm, and I know how it feels to want to change the world with the Construction Set, but my advice is to scale it back a little, or perhaps wait for Skyrim where your mod is more likely to be appreciated. Modding Oblivion is a dying practice, and a world larger than the Shivering Isles, dungeons and all, can take many months - sometimes years - by then Oblivion will probably be nearly forgotten. I would hate to see all your work wasted. It's less than 3 weeks until Skyrim, so I highly recommend you release a few smaller mods first to get yourself used to the concepts of modding by the time Skyrim is released. From what you are saying, you are a world designer / quest builder. Trust me, good world designers and quest builders are highly sought after. So make a few small quests that take you around custom locations, familiarize yourself with modding and make a name for yourself. Then, once you have some experience (it doesn't take much) then you can consider creating world spaces larger than the Shivering Isles. I hate to sound pessimistic like this, but I wish someone had told me to start off small. I would have saved myself a lot of time and effort ;) If you do go for it, best of luck. I will look forward to seeing your work, whatever game you choose.

I am definatly getting Skyrim for Xbox 360 (For how epic the gameplay feels) then PC (Mods) so I will continue for Skyrim, but I still want to make this, perhaps I will take out some of the idea's since Skyrim is coming out in 3 weeks, cant wait BTW, and like you said, it takes time. But I will at least put something quite impressive and big in it, even if its not size big, it will be like take a long time sort of big.I may release loads of little mods with the bits and bobs in, like the Hakhaven remade as a mod, etc etc so when I stop my wor or move to Skyrim o whatever, I will still have a few released mods left for everyone. If that gives me a good name then I will definatly make something like this big Idea for Skyrim. Not exactly Nehrim size, but like maybe 2 times as big as shivering isles at the most. Thanks again, Kudos for both of you :)Linky1 Any other ideas? Edited November 7, 2011 by Linky1
soleguardian
Easter eggs are always fun. As well as custom monsters. Create a good lore to go with the mod though, to make it seem more realistic. Doesn't need to be over the top but something well written would be nice to draw people in.
