I'll try to get my copy a day or two before 11.11 at our local mall "prisma"... They don't much care about those dates. Often they just throw their stuff on the shelves as soon as they get it it seems. Got mw2 from there 2 days before release. It was just sitting there in games section in the box barely open (not yet placed on shelves). Skyrim is the first game since then (used steam since) that I'll be getting a hard copy of, so "prisma" it is then...

I'm getting it shipped to my house the morning the game is released to just us normal consumers. ;D Luckily for me, I have that Friday off from school (For once, I thank our school board for giving us something) so Christmas should come twice this year.

Some do, some don't. The gamestop near my apartment when I was in Hawaii did, I fondly remember those nights of getting to the story at 10:30 with my subway and sitting around chatting it up with the other locals as they filter in. Also usually means I get the cooler handouts from the store because I'm the first one there :D ! But as a wise man already said in this thread.... steam doesn't unlock games at the stroke of midnight. making midnight releases of steam games nearly pointless.

You know, people keep mentioning the midnight release as being pointless, but if you play on console or have the Collectors Edition, you'll have something to do. I've never done a midnight release for a Steam based game, but I'd do it even if I just had the basic edition just to get out of the house.

I did when I got Portal 2. Wasn't too bad. I had to wait about an hour after getting it, and it was available to play.

But consoles don't really match PC version... it's like matchbox cars and race cars.

All you need to do is gather a bunch of Skyrim fans, dress in makeshift armor, carry swords, and take over Gamestop. Then you ride out on horses with copies of Skyrim. If anyone tries to be a hero, bow snipe him or leave some poisoned apples.
