Cannot use Steam

Recommended Posts

I haven't been able to run New Vegas for about 6 months now, and at this rate I won't be able to run Skyrim either. I can only access the internet via tether on my phone so I cannot use networking in safemode as it disables the software necisary for this. I don't think this is the source of my problem because Google shows hundreds of others with this unsolvable issue. Do I need to uninstall Steam? If so, will it delete all my game data?

I've disabled my firewall (in services as well), I've replaced the .exe with a supposedly good one linked from the official Steam forums, I've deleted the ClientRegistry.blob file. Nothing works. Now it just gets to 26% and starts over then eventually shows me this...

Get a stress ball and attempt steam support, There is a lot of problems like this, I have this error have not been able to get on for the greater part of a year. They will ignore its existence but at any rate if you have a friend get the steam folder without any games installed and it should let you get back on to steam, Update you games go into offline mode. This is the most effective means and a pain in the rear end I realise

Or

Keep trying, you might get lucky

And make sure that your ISP, or some other software doesn't block or throttle p2p connections. It's less common than it was before, but some ISPs are still picky about the types of data you are sending/receiving since p2p traffic tends to require more resources for the bandwidth than otherwise.

But yes, it might be a good idea to contact Steam, if only to make sure that your account wasn't hacked/banned without your knowledge.
