Un34rth
I enjoy having enemy names and health bars hidden, but unfortunately this disables the ability to see whether an enemy is too high a level to safely fight. The only way I currently know of to check is to go all the way back into the menu to turn health bars back on, or to get seriously wounded attempting to find out. I'm looking for a solution to display the indicators of a high level enemy, such as a the usual skull, question marks or a red colored level, but to keep everything hidden otherwise. I've searched pretty extensively for some kind of mod, but haven't seen where anyone has made such a thing, and who knows whether CDPR will add the option in or not. Thanks. leethx
Created one very quickly that displays enemy level:http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1626 not beautiful but it works. 3 versions to choose from Edited June 8, 2016 by leethx
Un34rth
Thanks for the reply. That's not too bad, will certainly work for the time being. That said, is there any way that you could do the same thing, but with the health bars part rather than NPC names? That way even if all the enemies show levels, it might not be dead center on the enemy and no NPC names will be displayed like I usually have it set. I understand if that's not possible. I'm unfamiliar with modding the Witcher UI, having only experience with modding Fallout 4's.
leethx
I don't know if I understand you correctly. May you explain your request in more detail? You'd like to have the NPC names be disabled but still have a level indicator on enemy?
Un34rth
Yes, totally correct. As it is now, you need to have enemy health bars off but names on. If you could do it the other way around by having names off and health bars on (but invisible, only the level indicator) that would be super. As I said, if it's not doable, no problem! leethx
Ok. Your request is doable (not with vanilla level indicator, but with plain text level indicator). For now I've updated the NameAndLevel version to only display a red x above enemies that are considered hard (red skull enemies) when disabling health bar AND name display in the settings I'm currently working on some ingame menu to allow you configuring the mod as you wish, but until it's released I hope this version fits your needs. Frederf220
I have a slight variation on this request. Ideally I don't want the health, name, level, danger etc. of an enemy displayed 100% of the time. To give a sense of the play style I don't have pick up prompts for herbs; I literally have to learn and know them by sight and it's fun. I like the mystery of not knowing if I'm the next hit from winning the fight or only half way. During fights with enemies on my level this is extremely enjoyable to have absolutely no UI associated with them. The only problem is unwittingly getting involved without near impossible foes. Most monsters I can guess their difficulty just by eye. However I found that some enemies, especially human opponents have a strength which is insurmountable and surprising. It's very immersion breaking to have to fight an impossible battle, die, and reload to know to avoid it. Instead I would like to briefly be shown a minimalist symbol only if the enemy is well beyond my level and nothing if it's equal or below. Ideally this would be tied to some active button press so once I learned that this isn't a winnable fight it wouldn't clutter my screen. It's not critical if this "danger level" symbol is permanent since I won't often actually engage in combat when it is in effect.
