scandalz143187 Posted June 7, 2016 Share Posted June 7, 2016 So I have been reading crash fixes for fallout 4 for about 2 months now on and off, but I have had no success in fixing my crashing problem. My Driver's are up to date, I've used LOOT to check my load order, and I've made INI fixes based on many sources. This is my plea for help for anyone willing to help by telling me correct settings custom to my computer's specifications. Here's what I've got. Fallout 4 is stored on a 1.5 TB HDD 7200 RPM (1.2 TB free). OS is stored on a 120 GB SDD (54 GB free). This computer is custom built. ma1025 Posted June 7, 2016 Share Posted June 7, 2016 I posted this in your other thread but I'll copy it here too in case you don't check there. === From what I can find, the i7 930 is a quad core, not an 8 core (though it does have 8 threads with hyperthreading). Anyway, iNumHWThreads= (despite what the name implies) should be set to the number of physical cores you have so change that to iNumHWThreads=4. You have two different uGridstoload settings. It's set to 9 in your Fallout4.ini and 5 in the Prefs. On top of that, your uGrids also seems a bit high for the engine. If you want it higher than the default 5, 7 would work while being more stable than 9. Changing it is a little more tricky though. Just lowering the value and trying to load your game will cause it to crash. To lower uGrids just start the game, load the save you want to lower uGrids for, alt-tab and edit uGrids in the .ini files, go back in game, type in the console "refreshini" and save your game If you do change uGrids to 7 (in both .ini files), also change: uGridsToLoad=7uInterior Cell Buffer=64uExterior Cell Buffer=64 You can also make a backup of the .ini files you have now and try playing with the config tool. And the multiple threads get confused and answers get repeated or contradictory. PLEASE stick to ONE thread for troubleshooting to avoid confusion.
