coolpcguy
Hey all, I'm eagerly awaiting my new Dell Inspiron 1520:Core2Duo T5250 @ 1.5Ghz2GB DDR2 667MHz DC nVidia 8600m GT w/256 MB RAM. The 15.4" screen has a native res of 1280x800. At what settings can I run Oblivion?Any inputs would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! PS: Last time I played Oblivion was on my crappy 3 year old PC- Pentium 4 @ 2.4Ghz(Prescott), 256 MB RAM and GeForce FX 5200, using Oldblivion! Cant believe this setup actually allowed me to run @ 12-14 FPS outdoors, and about 20-22 fps Indoors  EDIT: Typos

At which point, you'll probably notice the same framerate and video settings. Using any sort of graphics pack will naturally make it a little lower. Really the only place you'll probably see much improvement is in loading times, and that's only if you weren't using 2gb ram before. The higher processor won't really account for much since there are few process heavy events, and most of them get slowed down by videocard more than computer clock. Unless you're using alot of process heavy mods, or have a large inventory, you probably won't see any difference in game speed. Again, most of your slow down was because of your videocard. While I think the 8600m runs a bit faster, it still has the small video memory which can hold it back.
