kingtitan
Hi, just wanted to request what I believe would be a pretty simple mod. Generally when a companion commits a crime, the whole company of guards tries to kill the companion. I generally like to keep my companions around even if they accidentally commit a crime, so my request is for a mod that makes your companion go to jail. That way you could go to bail them out or make them serve their time or even break them out! It could either be implemented by automatically transporting the companion to jail or a guard coming up to you to ask what you want to do (the general three options except for your companion). Hopefully this would be pretty easy to do!
David Brasher
This sounds like a rather hard idea to implement, but the result sounds fun. I am not sure if anyone would be able to make a mod like this work for all companions at all times. It might be that you would have to build the mod to work on only one specific companion. (Because the scripting might need the REF ID of the persistent actors it was performing actions on.) A mod like this would be likely to conflict with all partner mods. Like for instance, you might not be able to have a CM partner who also went to jail. It might come out such that you would have to choose one or the other. I can imagine that with some systems, the player would have to manually designate a partner as one that would go to jail. Like the player might have to cast a spell on the partner, make certain choices in dialog added by the mod to turn the function on, or place a certain object in the partner's inventory. I sure hope Skyrim has a better way of dealing with NPCs. In this respect Oblivion is better than Morrowind, but it is still quite solipsistic in that the whole world revolves around the player character and NPCs exist only in relation to the player and can't really be made to have their own affairs independent of the player. kingtitan
Oh yes, David you raise a lot of good points I hadn't factored in... Well, I do agree with you though, I do truly hope that Skyrim has built into it a much better modable NPC system... I sincerely hate not being able to designate some people to use one body mesh and for others to use another... Just one of the many things that I hope is rectified. But, in the meantime, I'm getting Skyrim for my XBOX before getting it for my pc. Hopefully by that time there will be some really good mods avaliable!
