Ikos
I've been playing a modded Oblivion since Oblivion's release, and I have never stumbled upon a glitch such as this one. My current computer is a Core 2 Extreme QX6850 with dual 8800GT's and the maximum amount of RAM allowed by Vista 32-bit, so it's not a hardware problem. I have also tested this out with a AMD-ATI system, and had the same problem. Anyway, my textures are randomly turning black. It's hard to explain how this is happening, but it's almost like there's a limit to how many textures load per session of Oblivion. When I initially start the game, I have no problems whatsoever, but as a load more and more textures, I see more black textures. Note that these aren't the very dark textures that are due to incorrectly installed textures, they are pitch-black with no luster. Sometimes the textures work fine, other times they fail to load, and I have to exit the game to correct the problem. This happens with almost all textures, such as ground textures, buildings, furniture, basically any static item. Here's a list of the texture mods I use: AWS (sky turns black)Diverse GrassesAll of the Unique LandscapesBook JacketsImproved FloraDrinks of CyrodillKaeif's Better Amulets/RingsQuarl's TP3 Other mod's textured also go black, I'm currently using about 40 mods total. I've increased my page file to 10GB, and my computer can handle all these texture mods easily. Any idea's?
bben46
I am experiencing something similar, but only certain things turn black. Chests, some doors, sections of bridge that will fall if you walk on them. The only mods I see in common are book jackets & Kaeif's Better Amulets/Rings. I will be out of town for the next week, I'll look back here when I return. If you haven't found it by then, I will try troubleshooting from my end. I have been suspecting Harvest containers because most of the things that turn black are containers, but not all of the containers turn black.
