Actually, I'm surprised that something similar hasn't already been done. At least if it has, I haven't been able to find it on TESNexus.

 

I think it would be neat if there was an armor mod that added a stylized (think ceremonial) set of Roman armor and weapons to the game. This is the sort of thing you'd expect high ranking officers or nobles to wear. The wall shield already had some fairly interesting designs on it that probably wouldn't need any work. Since this would be more of a ceremonial armor set, I think it would be better to have the character wearing a crown of olive branches instead of the traditional helmet.

 

Roman soldiers generally went about barelegged. Their lower abdomen and thighs were protected only by that skirt made of steel strips. I think for a more formalistic armor, I'd probably depart from that and have some kind of actual greaves in addition to the skirt. For the female version of the armor, I'd extend the steel skirt to be floor length, giving it more of a formal dress look. The Greeks and Romans also had the single strap dress style going, so that might make an interesting variation on the cuirass for female characters.

 

There would be room for three basic weapons. The pugio was a standard issue dagger to the Roman army. The gladius would make a short sword, and the spatha could be put in as a long sword. The Romans also made use of pila, a heavy javeline that the legionaries used, but I'd imagine getting something like that into the game would be borderline impossible.

 

I'd do all this myself, but I just don't have the time.

The Legion armor's stock. Google Image Search turned up the picture from here, so I'd assume the blogger is using a Drow race mod, and the dress and quiver are modded.

Might also want to point out that that screenshot is from Morrowind, not Oblivion. I know it may seem obvious to most, but there are people who didn't play TES3. Unfortunately, that means that you can't use that armor, not even if you tried to convert it between the two. This is because of certain legal reasons.
