JDFan
As others have mentioned it really depends on what specs the RAM modules had -- for example at Newegg they have This set of DDR3 1600 RAM for $24.99 for 8GB while a set of DDR2 like these is $50 for 4gb. so as you can see there are wide ranges of pricing when it comes to memory chips depending on the specifications and availability of the modules (right now DDR3 modules are in wide use so the pricing on these modules is fairly low for decent specs (faster speeds and lower latencies are a bit higher in price but for the most part it is cheap compared to DDR2 modules which are getting harder to find so carry a premium especially for good speeds\latencies) - So for the most part what you were told is correct even though his pricing does seem high for all of them -- If I were you I'd get a refund on the ones you bought - check specifically what you need for your system - do some reading up on what makes the pricing differ and look for a better price (can always come back here and post the modules you find and prices to get opinions before you buy - once you know what you need for your system ! - Or you can post what you currently have and get suggestions on what to look for.) tem1980
Older ram often ends up costing more than the current "in" ram modules i.e. DDR3, Manufacturers start charging more for older tech in the ram area, so other than the normal oversticker of stores, I dont think youve been taken too bad. Of course you can always look up what you purchased on Newegg or something similar for some comparison. Just because DDR3 is better, doesnt mean it costs more. ram prices are like a negative bell curve in relation to price. edit - post lag.
Tweetybird
I've gotten memory sticks from Crucial before and plan to do so for this laptop as well. They do an pretty easy transaction and I do believe the shipping was super quick. You'd have to see about getting it shipped to your country though. Alistat
OK, so to say it briefly, I recently went for a bit of an upgrade for my PC to play Skyrim: two sticks of DDR3 4GB RAM. I don't really know much about computer specs, and I'm 13, so I kinda had to take the guys word for it when he said about the price: £65.Yes. The computer industry is a mess right now and will feed on your ignorance all it can. I bought 4 gigs, any more than that usually isn't worth it, of solid DDR 3 1600 ram for 25$ wich is 20? euros...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148419such a great site :) Edited October 27, 2011 by Alistat
