mrmayhem2
So, I was originally under the impression that I would not be able to run Fallout 4 until a few weeks ago when I saw people running it on systems worse than mine. So after getting it, I tried every tweak under the sun in order to run it and am starting to feel like I've made a mistake. The Problem: It starts up fine and then after hitting new game, it loads until it gets to the bobblehead on the dresser and then black screens for about 10 minutes (timed). Solutions I've tried: 1. Various mods. 2. Dumbing the game down to 11.1 and 10.1 direct x. 3. Updating drivers (results don't show on automatic updaters and the ones I've manually tried don't go through). 4. Windowed boarderless on my screen resolution and 800x450. 5. System registry (TdrLevel 32 bit and 64 bit binary versions). 6. Comparability Mode on Windows 7. 7. Administrator (doesn't work as of tried solution #8 ). 8. Beta updates. 9. Steam re-validations. 10. Increasing virtual memory. 11. Massive INI tweaks. 12. Less graphically intensive windows themes. Things I've noticed through testing: While keeping task manager open while starting it up, I saw that my processor was constantly maxed out and it would stay on the black screen until my ram was used up. It also only used 5 of the 11 available gigabytes (virtual ram included (8gb)). This leads me to believe that it's either a ram or processor issue rather than graphic as well as an infinite loading screen, but I'm not sure. On Games-Debate.com when I punched in my computer's specs, it said could run it on low settings (bar graph at bottom of screen). Specs: CPU: dual core Celeron N2830 2.16 GHz GPU: Intel® HD Graphics RAM : 4gb (physical), 8gb (virtual) OS: windows 8.1 64 bit. All of this on a budget laptop. As a final note, I do not plan on returning it for any reason in case I do find a way of getting it to work in the future or a better computer. Speaking of that, PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST GETTING A NEW DESKTOP OR CONSOLE!!!!!! If I had that kind of money, this would not be an issue. It seems to start up just fine, but has some sort of an incompatability. I do understand that's that's probably my only possible solution and I greatly apologize if I sound like I'm being difficult. As I mentioned, people have ran Fallout 4 on less, so I know it's possible, just highly unlikely. Also, don't just comment "same". Only reply if you have something useful to share. I thank all of you in advance for your help and time. Edited June 9, 2016 by mrmayhem2
Slavemaster4u
I believe the issue is your intel graphics. Have read several post in the past that intel on board graphics don't play well with many games. Your specs are very minimal but can work if you had a different graphics card. Even AMD APU's which have built in graphics, don't have these issues. So unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to run FO4 on the laptop you have. Sorry I couldn't give you a more positive answer. Best to you.
mrmayhem2
No, it's fine. Unfortunately I've come to the same conclusion. All the others I've seen run it on low end systems had later Intel graphics or a nvidia\AMD card. My graphics are just flat out not recent enough to be compatible. Its the ugly truth. Since I'll be trying to get a job soon, I'll just have to save up for a decent desktop (NVidia card!). I'll keep testing and searching and thank you so much for your reply.
