Tossing Salad In the Commonwealth

Hello all! I'm new to modding and for my maiden voyage into the world of modding, I've started working on "Tossing Salad in the Commonwealth," a mod which adds a ton of new food items to craft and find in the world (from salads to ice cream to carrot cake). While working on it, I discovered the disappointing lack of categories in the crafting so I've added a bunch to sort the current and new items added. For fun, I've added some customized weapons fitting the food theme, most notably the "Salad Tosser" a Broadsider which shoots out heads of lettuce instead of cannonballs. I plan on adding more, but the main focus of the mod will be the introduction of new food, new cooking categories, and new crafting recipes for the added food.

Later, I'd like to balance the healing/radiation damage and such of the current and added food, but will need a lot more testing to come to that.

If you have any ideas, I'd love to listen to them! I'll update this page as I continue working on the mod.

Edit: So its been about a week since I've started the mod. Things are going pretty well. I've made about 75 items. I think when I hit 100 I'll release it so people can see what I'm doing and give some feedback. This won't be the full version and I'll continue to work on the mod, but I might slow down a bit and think about the items in the mod a bit more so I only add items I TRULY think fit well (and ones that I can actually add with my lack of modelling/texturing experience). There you have it folks! I hope I can release a mod you all will enjoy!

If you're adding categories, you may need to watch out for incompatibilities with other mods.

With custom categories, if two mods change the same vanilla menu, whichever one loads last "wins", and its version of that menu takes precedence.

So, you may want to investigate the various ways (patches, scripting, SKE/SKI, etc) that you can get around that.

Thank you very much for the feedback! I'd been thinking about that and was trying to figure one out. I have an idea about it, but implementation and testing still has to be done.

Looking forward to it! I already have New Recipes, but this will be a welcome addition. If you plan to add new plants from which to harvest food, hit me up, I'm working on something that'll fit in well with it.

I was actually thinking of adding new plants and making the new items farmable, but I'd like to get the items in game and working before I go too far on a tangent. They can and will eventually become farmable though! I didn't actually know about that New Recipes mod. Truth be told it makes me want to make a better mod than it so I've been working a bit more enthusiastically. I hope I can deliver something really cool for you guys!!
