How can I find out what mod an item in game came from?

I've found some items that make characters invisible besides head while wearing them. The items are Combat GEAR 01, and Combat GEAR 07.

For the Combat GEAR 07, i opened console and clicked the corpse of a Viper Gunslinger who was wearing it, and got 0010131F, and when removed and dropped on ground, I got the ID: ff001de3

So I have the item ID and the name, can I somehow track this back to what mod it came from using FNVedit (im a total noob and scared of touching anything in FNVedit) or some way?

any chance of hope?

"00" Load Order index means it's from the FalloutNV.ESM file. The "FF" index means it is a "spawned" character or item, which happens when you drop the item to the ground.

* Issue: Find the source mod of an item in-game?
- Cause: The only way to use the console to identify an object in-game, is to have it in an Actor's (your character, an NPC, or container) inventory.
- Solution:
# Open the in-game console.
# Click on the PC, NPC, or container.
# Enter "showinventory" in the game console.
# The FormID will be displayed at the top of the screen. See [this wiki article] for an explanation of how to interpret the FormID. The first two characters are the "load order index" (in hexadecimal, starting with "00"). The "load order index" tells you the source mod.
# If you have NVSE installed, then you can use the console command ' GetModIndex "pluginname.esX" ' to get it in game. Supposedly the NVSE console command "gbo" (GetBaseObject?) will as well.

The items are making the head disappear because of an error in the creation of the mesh.

From the TESTG "Troubleshooting" page:

Issue: My partial body armor/clothing mod is making the rest of that body part disappear.

Cause: In the game Construction Kit or Editor, it's important that you pick the appropriate slot for your clothing/armor.

Solution: If your mesh contains the body, then use the upper body slot. If you want the default body to be visible (because your mesh doesn't include it) then you can't use this slot. If you are making a poncho, for example, you don't want to use the upper body slot since your poncho will make the character's body and clothing/armor disappear.
