Husband/Wife Follower Mod

I could not find this, pretty strange that noone ever had this idea.

How about a Mod that allows you to revive your Wife/Husband and take them as your follower? You spent so much time modelling him/her in the beginning of the game, so why not such a mod?


This could even be enhanced with a little story/quest behind it. I'd imagine something like actually reviving her/him or finding the follower somewhere in the Wastelands but they are not actually your wife/husband, they just look like them and they obviously do not remember you. You can now build up a relationship with them and possibly spark a new love?

I'd like to see something like this.

I suspect someone has had this idea... it's just a lot of work--at least if you want them to fit into the game at all.

 

You'd not only need some sort of quest, but you'd also need to explain why you've been spending so much time with Curie...And Piper...And Cait. And you have all those "my spouse is dead" lines. And what about meeting shaun? Unless the spouse couldn't be revived until after Shaun is dead, you'd need some reactions there. That's not to say it's impossible--there was a mod for fallout 3 that gave you a sister and companion and it worked pretty well (if you ignore that Dad was never excited to see her :p)--but it would be a really big undertaking.

 

The find their doppelganger quest would be less work, but still a lot of work.

i always wanted to try and refreeze her till you could her a doctor to patch her up ya the bullet would have lead to some complications in refreezing the first time but it would still be worth a shot if nothing else shaun could have tried to recreate her to see what it might have been like to have her around maybe it could give you an option to let keep believing she's your real wife or tell her the truth

Ok my attempt at story to clean things up. You see them shot they die the baby is stolen yeah but then you wake up and his/her pod is open and empty (a tiny bit of dialog would have to be removed here) you spend the rest of the game assuming he's dead but after Shaun's death you can find a room in the institute with your dead spouse alive and well. They have new voice acting and state that they're assuming they are a synth, That Shaun must have gone back, collected the body and built a copy.

^That's a start. I'd worry though that it would raise the obvious question: if he sent someone back for mom, why not for Dad? It might work better if, at the end of the institute line, he gave you a synth copy of mom... but it'd be hard to get the VO for that conversation.

 

One alternative: maybe your spouse *really is* wandering the wasteland also trying to find Shaun. They could say that they're cryopod failed a few years before yours and that they tried for week on end to get get yours open but couldn't manage it (perhaps because control of the pods was now remotely handled by the institute). They eventually gave up and began looking for Shaun. Or had to flee Sanctuary to escape raiders. Or got captured by slavers. Of course, your actual spouse might have some issues with your current companions.

 

But I'm just spitballing here. This would be a pretty massive undertaking, but it would be cool if someone could pull it off in a way that made sense.

that would cover the problem with voice acting if he/she was a few years older now.

and to answer your problem with my version how about: Shaun took the dead parent to create a synth copy of them intending to put it back in the pod for when the living parent woke up but creating a living duplicate of what a dead person was when alive proved more difficult than expected and thus you ended up leaving your pod before he was done. You thus end up with an imperfect copy that is aware that it is an imperfect copy.
