darkus37
Well... I keep getting drawn to the Honest Hearts DLC. How about we use some of the info from there? Honest Hearts's back-story was about New Canaan being destroyed. So how about, the kids from New Canaan were sent away through a secret passage to protect them from the White Legs attack and managed to escape to a hidden valley. Within this hidden valley was a very high class spa. Being the off-season, the place was being repaired so the only person there was a long-dead engineer who had lived out his life there with a small contingent of worker bots and guard bots (to keep out the riff-raff and paparazzi). The kids were accepted as new clients and were kept safe. Approximately a year into living in their new home, a child stumbled across a gecko attacking one of the hidden valley inhabitants, a small raccoon child. Using his intelligence, he managed to trick the deathclaw into following him where it was destroyed by the guard bots. This began an alliance between the two groups. The child who made this alliance eventually grew into a fine leader (Oz), and things were calm, for a time. At this point, we have to introduce the enemy. I am uncertain on how to fit her in (perhaps a White Legs or Legion force?), but eventually, the PC stumbles into this valley and stops the Wicked Witch of the East from eliminating The Burrows. You are then tasked with journeying to the Spa (i.e. Emerald City) and meet the various companions on the way to get help from Oz. The overarching them is to somehow shield the valley from further attack, but also to have a way out so that they can find more people later to keep up the gene pool. Sort of like Dead Money, each companion will have a task that helps the mission progress. My original concept, quoted: Dorothy: the PC.Toto: a companion, possibly a dog, but I'd rather have something useful like an Eyebot. The Scarecrow: A busted up android from elsewhere. It lost it's memory long ago and barely even resembles a human form anymore. When you meet him, he's on fire because he did not know that standing inside a bonfire is bad for him. As you progress, he can be restored physically and Oz will give him a new memory bank. The Tin Man: straight up sentry bot. Originally a robotic sentinel of death, after the war ended he began to think about whether it was right to kill without making sure he was attacking a bad guy and exceeded his programming limitations. Unfortunately, this caused him to shut down non-essential functions to try and support his mind but his body couldn't handle it leaving him rusted and abandoned. Fixing him gives you some serious firepower. Oz will give him an updated OS that allows him to feel feelings. The Cowardly Lion: as you suggested, a feral tribal or creature who gets to prove his courage. The Wicked Witch Of The West: this was the green one, right? How about this: TWWW was OZ's first attempt at advanced robotics. He succeeded but due to a programming error or random chance, she became convinced that the other humans needed to be killed since they diverted Oz's attention away from her. Her attempts to kill the other humans were hampered by her weak body and her build in programming (she can't kill directly). She left and eventually stumbled upon some sort of robot factory from where she upgraded herself and sent her minions to eradicate the other humans. Whether or not Oz himself is considered an enemy as well will have to be considered. The Wicked Witch Of The East: not a direct sister, but the first robot that TWWW builds herself and is a "sister" robot. A hulking mechanical mess, the PC accidentally destroys her and finds the red ruby macguffin that can overclock any machine it's connected to (introduces a new dynamic since it's a pre-war AI).The Munchkins: the tribals you're trying to help. The Flying Monkeys: the robots that TWWW sends to harass the tribals.Oz: an intelligent child from a very wealthy family that allowed him to do incredible experiments as he grew up. A good kid, he eventually sealed himself like Mr. Robert house in a preservation pod and tried to look after everyone else.
devinpatterson
Well... I keep getting drawn to the Honest Hearts DLC. How about we use some of the info from there? Sure, I understand where you going with the children, but I meant, do you see a hook that involves the children of oz and the animals specifically. Anything that would be unique about the relationship? Otherwise I think everything you described would just as well be suited to the ghost warrior mod or the childrens own stand alone mod. darkus37
Is there something inherently unique in what I've proposed? No. But that doesn't mean it can't be. Just because I'm not coming up with something, doesn't mean that either you or someone else on this forum can't come up with it. Otherwise, please feel free to use these ideas in the other mods. Just because I'm not coming up with something I'm not berating you or your idea. I just thought that since you had suggested adding it to the burrows you may have had a idea or link between the two mods that was complimentary in some form. I thought perhaps I had missed the link...
darkus37
Nope, and I'm not offended, I get what you were saying. Perhaps you should combine this disparate mods into a continuous narrative, like the official DLC. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the companions from the DLC come back and be available as full companions (i.e. your prison mod could contain Joshua Graham, there's the dead money one with Christine, etc.). Just a thought.
VaultPi
I still think that fallout OZ with Bunyips, Drop Bears, and other critters to deal with in the wilds of fallout Aussie outback....
devinpatterson
I still think that fallout OZ with Bunyips, Drop Bears, and other critters to deal with in the wilds of fallout Aussie outback.... Ah well our OZ is much less ambitious, limited to a beastman (lion), tinman (protectron) etc. Although I do plan on bringing a jackalope to life here pretty soon if the rat skeleton co-operates and I get some free time. VaultPi
poh, damn, I wanted Fallout Austrailia again, the return of makes deathclaws look like wimps resergent Tazmanian Tigers/Devils....
greenknightfury
lol You're not the only one that thinks Fallout Australia would be awesome VaultPi. Heck even without radioactive mutants and FEV it's a land where murder is cleverly disguised as nature, with it it would be the deadliest place ever lol. maryberry01
Love the whole Wizard of Oz type deal going on, but isn't this fairly reminiscent of our 1G6B idea? Lol the one we have yet to share with anyone xP Cute idea though. (Toto should totally be a deathclaw or something big and B.A. like that, in my opinion :D)
