GalimeerKandarus
The existing skill training mechanic is okay, but then I discovered Angi. She's an archery trainer, but instead of just making 5 payments at a time, you actually shoot at targets and get xp. You actually *train*.I also experienced a bug in the Companions quest (now resolved) where Vilkas doesn't stop fighting you. I got good xp from that too.So the mod I'm imagining is one where skill trainers, specifically the combat-based ones, become "aggressive" letting the player fight him or her, getting actual experience-based levels.I'm sure such a thing is possible because the system already exists (to some extent) in-game. Vinchon
Very interesting idea. What would the mechanic for stuff like speech and heavy/light armor be though?
Fantafaust
Very interesting idea. What would the mechanic for stuff like speech and heavy/light armor be though?Maybe it makes an hour pass in-game and a message box pops up that says they have a long haggling session with you(Speech). or thoroughly explain how to use the armor(Heavy/Light). lol
Vinchon
I was thinking it would be you standing still with your armor on and them beating the s#*! out of you.But then again I don't know how that is "teaching" you anything about armor lol
faffman
Wearing armour is only a "skill" in RPG games. In real life, you only have to get used to it and condition yourself, which is logically done by simply moving around in it. So maybe, for heavy armour you take jogs with your trainer, and for light armour you try dodging hits (since the latter is about being agile and fast)? Though in that case, it's also reasonable that your stamina should increase, and maybe that's a slightly high reward for what you're paying. Elias555
I like the idea, lots of work though. If anyone does decide to pick it up I suggest you don't use vanilla actors, create a school and have it done there with 6 voice actors and in blocks of 5 levels instead of 1 by 1. Far easier than editing each vanilla actor and causing many incompatibilities and having to create individual training areas for each actor.
