cossayos
I never had this before, I didn't change anything about my settings, my configuration or my mods, but suddenly I'm crashing at the startup screen. I reverified the games files via steam and it ran again with no problem. When I quit. it was back to crashing at startup at trying to start the game again. The only thing I did in the meantime was running LOOT.
Royhr
Are you talking about crashing before you get to the game menu where select to continue, start a new game etc...? Now you have not added any mods at all before this started happening correct? Is your game video resolution the same as your Windows desktop resolution? Do you use NMM. If so while in the plugin screen is anything showing red? Also make sure that your load order is ok. Make sure the ESMs are in there correct locations. Also you could try running FO4Edit and see if that detects any errors. When all else fails then you may have to try uninstalling FO4, deleting all folders related to it, and then reinstalling it. cossayos
I fixed it for the moment. I did all of the above, but no dice. Loot showed nothing in red. What solved it - for now anyway - was disabling all mods in NMM, starting the game, loading my last save and then reactivating the mods. The interesting thing about it is that I did nothing to my game between it running fine and crashing on load. It sometimes crashed on the startup screen and sometimes I got into the menu, just to having it crash there when clicking the load, continue or new button. wax2k
CTD at startup means either missing master files or wrong load order. Since you didn't install / remove mods and since you mention having used LOOT, it's very probable, that one or more master files have been moved below their referring files in load order. If you post your complete load order (preferrably in spoiler tags), we might take a guess at the culprit(s).

cossayos
Wnat to know something funny? While redoing my game's installation I let the game decide on it's video settings. It set them much higher than I had it manually configured. And I'm getting less stutter and dropped frames than with my settings. If someone could riddle me this, I would be really interested.
