DAII combat in DAO

<Post wiped for Angry DAII rant>

There wont be a DA2 toolset, we didn't even get a DA:A one. Bioware has REALLY been letting down PC communities witth mod tools recently. It's upsetting.

Well, at least the DA team allows you to use their resources, including DLC assets, across the series (DAO-->DA2).

BethSoft absolutely forbids it! (Oh, and exactly how many ME/ME2 mods are there? )

a. The DA Toolset works fine for DAA and DA2, as far as it goes. And many as-yet unmade mods aren't waiting for a new toolset so much as an explanation of the changes to the file system... :whistling:

b. So therefore you don't like the ME-series, right?

My point is that I want game developers to focus on bringing out GREAT GAMES. Being able to mod them is a bonus, and not one that determines whether or not a game, or a company, is any good.

I never said I didn't like games that couldn't be modded, I said it's upsetting that Bioware has been letting the modding communities down with Mod-Tools, unless you think that's wrong, what with the complete and utter lack of support for the tool set.

As for Great Games, sure, I do hope that ME3 doesn't continue the trend of DA 2 and TOR, I mean it's a very miniscule hope and Bioware has done nothing to give me faith that they can pull it off, and DA 3 would have to be descended from the gods upon high, lavishly bathed by the tounges of both user and website reviewers, as well as inducing mild orgasms upon viewing it with mortal eyes (Or you know, at least average), before I consider giving it a go after what they pulled with DA2. But it's a hope none the less.

But this is neither the place nor the time to rant and rave about DA2, this was a request thread, answer is the animations are incompatible and actually doing this mod would take money and effort well beyond usual thresholds. Which is unfortunate because I do think DA:Os animations could be improved. Just not DAIIs

@Onmi; Hey, you started the sidetrack.

My points (with some use of sarcasm) were that the entire DA-series is far more moddable than the ME-series, yet both are BioWare games; and that if it's a matter of working on the PC version of the game, or working on the tools for the PC modding community, I'd rather that the devs work on the game!

I think the point that Omni is trying to make is that Bioware is letting us down when it comes to the toolset because there was one available in DAO, its one of the many things that gave the original game its replay value. It doesn't seem rational for the players to get a toolset with the first game and not the second. It's like getting everything we could ask for in the first game then when the second one comes around we're missing key element. DAII is a good game on its own, but knowing that Bioware can and has done better and given us more makes players expect more. Modding makes the game fun and when you can actually create your own adventure and story line with said mods then you get more playtime.

The current Toolset seems to make it possible to do many things in DA2 just fine. (Not to mention all the mods that don't require the toolset at all.) There are currently almost 1000 mods on the Nexus tagged as being for DA2 (828, by my count). And that doesn't include the ones that just aren't tagged for it.

Looks like a robust modding community in action to me.
