Funlovincriminal0
My comp has a major problem with Oblivion.I had Oblivion on my laptop (with vista "sigh"), running fine (if not a little slow), but it seemed like it kept getting slower, so i uninstalled it. When i reinstalled it, every time i tried to play it, a message came up saying that it had stopped working. So i reinstalled it again. This time it was able to get into the main menu, but when i click "New" and click yes to start a new game absolutly nothing happens, i try again and again and nothing. All the other options worked "Options", "Credits", "Exit" and "Load", but i have no saved games after uninstalling. So i cant play at all. Im very confused and annoyed, Help please! damstachizz
why not just download a save game off here? it will (usually) start at the end of the imperial sewers, so you won't miss much..apart from that i think the only thing to try, it on the main help/support page (here), click on the ''Help uninstalling Oblivion'' (or something like that) and follow the guide..also, are you trying to use vista now, or XP? if Vista, enable the ''Oblivion.exe'' file (not ''OblivionLauncher'') to run in XP SP2 compat. mode, and select 'Run as Administrator'.. and maybe make the laucher run as admin too...this might fix it, if it cannot save a game to the save folder because of user restrictions...Hope this helps,Chizz. Funlovincriminal0
Thanx for that, but no luck.More weird stuff has happened. When i look in data files in the launcher all of my old mods are there, but i deleted them when i unintstalled Oblivion, none of them work and if i load oblivion with them the game crashes. I tried downloading a saved game, but it wouldn't run it and it doesnt show in the load screen. I tried reinstalling it again and still the same problem its like it does everthing except actually run the gameplay. Any more ideas are welcome. damstachizz
only thing i can suggest is to completely uninstall EVERYTHING (including the registry entries), Reinstall, and download a patch off here THATS NOT THE CURRENT ONE (!!!!!) [the current one is VERY bad...], and try that...
TheTerminator2004
Oblivion has loads of problems with Vista... I believe there's something you can turn off which might help, but I can't remember what it's called... aero I think, or something like that. Otherwise, try uninstalling it, then running the installer in XP SP2 compatibility mode, as well as oblivion.exe.
damstachizz
Vista doesn't have too many problems with vista....theres another thing i do...when oblivion starts up, it automatically disables Aero...you use the same process as before (with XP compat mode) but select 'Disable Visual Schemes' <- that increases performance and might help the game a little bit... I don't think Vista has too many problems running Oblivion...i can run it fine...cept for the retarted colors..(my far awaw mountains are pink...:D)
TheTerminator2004
If the distant mountains are pink, it means that for some reason Oblivion can't find the LOD texture for it... that counts as a problem, though whether it's Vista's fault or not I don't know. Try extracting Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa to your data folder, and see if that solves it... it'll take up a lot of hd space, but if it works, I can tell you which bits are unnecessary, and you can delete them. Funlovincriminal0
plus, when i try uninstalling everything, the laptop keeps saying that i have all these mods, which i deleted and it always seems to remember that i once had it installed. Also i've now uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now, is that bad for the laptop or game?It doesnt recognise any new patches, mods or saves that i download either.
