Now I understand how taboo it is for game companies to make games where children die. It smacks them with the dreaded AO rating of death, and nobody wants that. That being said, the children in skyrim are invincible. I'm not sure about you, but I feel like it's going to ruin my game experience if a dragon blows up a village and suddenly it's just one big orphanage of superhuman babies. So my question is, do you think that children will have a sort of essential npc flag like important plot characters in oblivion, or do you think it will be a seperate system? I'm not some child hating sadist waiting for the first casey anthony mod, but I really value my immersion in these games.

Seriously? A separate hard-coded system? For this?

 

It seems ridiculous from our point of view - but Bethesda's equivalent of a Standards & Practices department probably feels this limitation is worth the trade-off for not being featured on Fox News and getting pulled from Walmart shelves for having a feature where a player character could kill children. If the flag allows for children NPC's to die in a NPC structured event... well, then some modder somewhere would find a way to incorporate that and all hell would break loose.

I'm considering paying actual money for someone to crack that code. Also, AO? What's wrong with AO? I play a lot of AO games, such as Lightning Warrior Raidy, Demonbane, Saya no Uta (when it eventually officially comes stateside, I'm sure it will be AO), etc. Also, Fox News is a bunch of swine that will squeal about anything. I really doubt this is the case, but even if it were so, it should be pretty easy to fix anyway. Take all unkillable Bethesda children. Remove them. Add your own killable children.

I don't care if they die, but they had better have no power. They should not be able to attack, and they should not be able to report to guards. If somebody is runing away yelling about the guy in a Black Hand robe who just killed a beggar, I want to be able to arrow snipe whoever is doing the running and yelling. I also don't want to be in the middle of an epic battle, only to accidentally hit a child, who then starts punching me like an unkillable gnat. You should not have to run from virtual children.

 

Also, FOX is the mosy pathetic excuse for a news show that I have ever seen. "Oh my God, Mass Effect is like a porno! BANBANBANBANBAN!"
