icecreamassassin
ok, so a bunch of my GREETING topics got put into the SQ08 quest as the topic "Wine". This happened when I had to weed out a stupid unintentional master file designation. So I load up an older version of my file to get the topics into my current version but have no idea how to change the topic. I've moved them to a different quest and I manually copied and pasted the individual topics that were miss-categorized but now the construction set is making the old version a master file for my more recent version. How can I get my topics put back where they need to be without having this master dependancy show up?
David Brasher
If you have put everything where it goes and your file does not actually depend on another file as its master, then you can go into TES4Gecko and edit your master list to remove the unneeded master. This only works right if your file truly does not refer to anything in the file listed as its master. You might want to examine the form IDs of your topics and dialog infos. Make sure they reside in the mod you think they reside in. If you move something, it may keep its old form ID which is not what you always want. You may need to copy in order to get new form IDs and get past the dependencies which are bedeviling you. It is dangerous to open two copies of your mod at once. It might work better to do an extreme modcleaning of a copy of your mod and chop out like 95% of it, leaving only the things you want to save and put back into the other copy of your mod. Then you could just merge the two in TES4Gecko. Edited November 2, 2011 by David Brasher
icecreamassassin
Yeah the chop and merge I have done before and it seems to work ok, so I'll probably go that route, thanks for the tips. Luckily CSE made a backup last night before I did my stupid TES4edit hack and slash which messed things up, so I have a clean copy again, just need to get the last NPC's missing topics back in, so I should be good from there. Thanks again
