Fast Travel Crash

Hello. So my Game crashes when using fast travel almost every time. I have all auto saves disabled. Tried to find something useful on other posts but all of em said disable auto saves and that didn't help me. And id rather not disable many mods. Kinda the reason i started playing this again.

I've seen the problem before and, in my experience, it has nothing to do with autosaves - which work very well provided other things are functioning correctly. Autosave works fine on my system, so if it doesn't on another then you can safely assume that it is the system or program installation which is broken. If you've always had the fast-travel crash-problem - or it doesn't go away when you turn all the mods off - then I'd be taking a much closer look at the game installation, operating system and hardware.

That said, I have had this fast-travel crash-problem in the form of a mod that I was working on which had duplicated a cell. The cleaning tool identified the cell duplication but left the remaining cell orphaned when it deleted the duplicate. Consequently, the cell didn't appear in the game and any attempt to fast-travel into that cell (and sometimes any attempt to fast-travel anywhere else) would result in program termination. Based on my rather anecdotal experience, my first suspect would be a mod defect. Even something as seemingly "innocent" as a dirty edit can terminate the game and may even force Windows into the first or second tier of its error management system. In your case, I'd start by disabling the mods one at a time while attempting to crash the game with each mod disabled - beginning with the last mod installed and working my way backwards.

So, in pursuit of a solution, I imagine you're going to have to lock up, terminate and restart the game several times in a row. I've had to do this a number of times myself when chasing various mod defects and found that if I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the task manager first and then leave the task manager open, it is much easier and quicker to kill the Oblivion executable in the Processes tab once Oblivion locks up. If you find that is is a mod causing the problem, it is always worth reporting the error back to the mod author.

So is there a tool for cleaning dirty edits?
