Kadzait
When I try to view a screenshot, an error message appears:http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x426/ArtemisWolf358/ScreenshotError1.jpgI've tried opening the screenshots with several programs, including GIMP, IrfanView and ForceVision, but always get the same result:http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x426/ArtemisWolf358/ScreenshotError2.jpgIs there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance. :)EDIT: Forgot to mention: while I was researching this, I came across a person who had the same problem, and people asked him certain questions. For me, I do not have Oblivion installed in the default Program Files folder, I have it installed in Documents. Also, I have anti-aliasing off. Rydan
Problem discussed here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion_talk:Ini_Settings#Screenshots_under_Vista Right-click on the Oblivion folder and select "Properties" then go to the "Security" tab. Click "Edit" then "Add" and then type "Everyone" in the text box and click "Check Names" then Okay. Tick the "Full Control" checkbox in the bottom list and then Okay your way out of the dialog boxes, confirming anything that needs confirmation as you go. JDFan
Try reinstalling photo viewer -- from the error message it seems that for some reason the Codec for .bmp format was not installed to photoviewer so it does not know how to open that format of picture file. (After looking around a bit it seems that at some point MS released an update to it that broke the .bmp format not sure if it has been fixed but downloading the newest version might fix it) if not perhaps finding a preupdate version may fix it. For the second error -- on some systems and a combination of settings the screenshooter in game results in messed up images like that (something to do with certain settings and various monitors that perform some post processing that for some reason occurs after the screenshot is taken before it is displayed on the monitor - but results in distorted screenshots) -- best fix for this is to get Fraps and use it instead to take screenshots ( It can be set to use the same key and can be set to save the pics to a folder of your choosing and avoids the distortion as well - the free version can be used indefinitely and can also be used for short in game videos as another bonus but will have a small overlay included that shows the vid was made with FRAPS -- the Full version removes this and allows longer videos to be made and also allows screenshots to be saved in a wide selection of formats ( I use .jpg - so they do not have to be converted later)
Kadzait
@Rydan: Didn't work.@JDFan: Downloaded Fraps, it works beautifully.I was hoping there was a fix so that I could salvage the screenshots I've already taken, but I guess there isn't one. I got a new laptop, and was so thrilled that I could take screenshots with this one (as I couldn't with my old one) that I took a lot of them without checking to see if I could actually view them. Ah well, I'm starting over with a clean slate. :)Thank you for your answers!
