4dvz
Title got dumbed down.. with otherwise good rig. My rig:Gtx460 1gb4gb ram6600 dual core @ 2.66ghzWin 7 First of all I know what bottlenecking stands for, but just kind of confused about of what does the CPU actually render/process in a game like skyrim? So far I`ve maxed out all the games released this year on 1920x1080 resolution including Crysis 2, Witcher 2, Rage.. just kind of confused because everything has kept on running fine and I want to be playing Skyrim on ultra settings (with high drawing distance) with +30fps. (30-35 for the entire game is ok for me). Is skyrim going to eat more resources than previous games this year? Worried because of my oldish CPU.. would need to upgrade motherboard too in order to go for more modern CPU. Skevitj
Just a guesstimate here, but I'd expect Skyrim to produce a heavier CPU load than most others due to the number of objects needing physics calculations and the like. I'm far from an expert on the topic though. On another note... Witcher 2 at max with a 460 and you don't have any problems?

I didn`t use the ubersampling feature but other than that yes everything maxed out on 1920x1080 and perfectly playable.. but notice that there`s 700 something mb version of 460 and mine`s 1gb. I kind of tought the same too, that I could max everything out if I leave the drawing distance high. Don`t know if I`m underestimating Skyrim engine but just hard to imagine it eating that much more than other games.
bben46
Using the computer you plan to play the game onGo here to see if your computer can run the gamehttp://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ You will find the various game we support Skyrim listed as 'The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimOblivion listed as 'The Elder Scrolls IV, OblivionFallout3 as Fallout3 PC Dragon Age listed as Dragon age: OriginsDragon Age 2 as Dragon Age IIThe Witcher as The WitcherThe Witcher 2 as The Witcher 2: Assassins of KingsFallout New Vegas as Fallout: New VegasMorrowind is not listed, However if you can run Oblivion at all it should run well on your system. The recommendations here are fairly conservative, So if it says you can run it, you probably can. But if it says you can't, you may be able to if you make some small improvements or shut down some background stuff. They are also not going to say You definitely can run it, only that your computer meets the minimum requirements to play it, and not how well it will play.
