modder3434
Oblivion: iron < steel < silver < elvish < dwarvish < glass < obsidian < daedricFO3: still using that 10mm pistol at level 30FONV: still using that 9mm pistol at level 30Skyrim: ??? Do we know if Skyrim's equipment is strictly leveled, like Oblivion, or more role-oriented, upgradable, and perennially useful, like the Fallout games? Or something in between? obsidian wasn't a weapon type or armor type in vanilla oblivion. as for the leveling question i dont know, nor do i care. I'll enjoy the game regardless. also, mods

malevolentraven
With all their talk about the leveling system and that you can go into dungeons and get your ass kicked if your not high enough level I wouldn't think (or at least I hope) they wouldn't be dumb enough to do that and then level the weapons you find in there. CalibanX
I don't mind leveled items. With Oblivion, you get exposed to such a vast amount of loot just from dungeon crawls, that I don't mind getting a lesser, locked version of an item cuz new ones always appear to replace them with. Then I use those. Also, I find that having too many uber items can make a character so formidable that you then have to increase the Difficulty bar in order to compensate, which then defeats the purpose of feeling more powerful. justwannaddl
As a frequent user of cheats, mods and console commands, I can't say this really bothered me though I do understand the frustration. It was just one of those things you took note in the first play through and then did differently whenever you felt like going for the next. If there were no cheats or mods though, I'd probably go berserk after a while.
Zinro
Levelled items are horrible and should be banned from games forever, especially the way Oblivion did it. If they don't intend to let you use the item properly until level 25, simply make the quest and dungeon related to it pop up at level 25 instead. I suspect OP is really talking about tiered items, which is an entirely different thing that Skyrim does indeed use. That is, going from Iron to Daedric and Dragonbone, where a dragonbone sword is significantly better than a steel sword. Skyrim makes use of this and it's a system I often like in games. It makes it useful, yet challenging, to level up and will satisfy the little hoarder locked inside of us all. Having some guys run around in Dragonbone gear while you're running around with Iron and Steel is also a good but subtle way of telling you to bugger off until you're stronger. krewjew90
I think I remember someone saying in an interview that they wanted to reward players for doing things beyond their level. So you pretty much earn everything and there will always be something nicer at a higher level location.
