marc5477
Good Evening, I was hoping someone might help me with the Brina Cross Inn crash that happens during the Anvil mage guild recommendation quest. Right after sleeping at the inn and exiting, the game crashes when you take a left on the brick road. I remember having this issue years ago and somehow I was able to continue but I cant remember how I did it. I was hoping someone might be able to help. Here is what I know: Its not a mod issue. I loaded a new character and traveled there without the quest and all is well. I tried dumping all my gear (bugged gear) in a chest and running there naked. I tried turning most of my mods off save for some armor and weapon mods (I didnt want to lose the items I had even if it did work). I tried a previous save (1 hour prior) and it still crashes. I do know that it has something to do with the quest itself. if I dont have the quest, the game does not crash so I know its a quest issue. Edit: I just managed to finish the quest by pulling the mage to me back at the inn. I killed her and finished the quest despite not following the directions completely. Unfortunately, the area still crashes. I tried completing the quest by returning to the mage guild and finishing the recommendation quest. I then returned to the inn and the mage hunters de-spawned. Unfortunately, the game still crashes if I try to run up the road. Edited November 7, 2011 by marc5477
bben46
I have played through the game, including this quest, several times. The first time with no mods, the other times with a wide variety of mods active. I have never seen this crash. I suspect that it is a mod causing the crash. Just unchecking the mod does not remove it. Here is a way to get back to the vanilla - completely unmodified game for troubleshooting.Bben's Oblivion Revert to Vanilla gameWIKI http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Revert_to_vanilla_data
