Kvatch132
OS - Vista Home Premium.Processor: AMD Phenom™ 8750 Triple-Core Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.4GHzMemory: 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 910Memory: 1.3 GB (My price range is between £50 and £100 BUT this isn't a strict budget and can be increased by a small amount.) What would be the best graphics card to buy with these specs? I'm looking to play games like Oblivion and lesser games like Minecraft. I heard the NVIDIA 9600GT was quite good, but I would like to be sure. (By the way, I would prefer if I was to get a NVIDIA. But, if you have any graphics cards from other company's that you would recommend, feel free.) Thanks, Kvatch132
Rydan
Try hwcompare. Oblivion is quite old and doesn't require a very powerful gpu (recommended cards are listed here), however since you're buying a new card I'd recommend something that will let you play newer games too. A 9600GT (either 512MB or 1GB) is more than enough for Oblivion. The old HD 4650 would let you play Oblivion on "very high" setting and had a pixel rate of 4800 Mpixel/sec, while the GeForce 9600 GT reaches 10400 Mpixel/sec. For slightly more than 100 € I bought a Radeon 6850 1GB and with it I should be able to play Skyrim on high/very high settings, but if you're sure you won't be buying Skyrim or other new 3D games, you can spend much less and buy any 512MB card. Go ahead, compare them and choose any card you like ;-) Edited November 7, 2011 by Rydan
Kvatch132
Does this look like a good deal? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nvidia-Geforce-9600GT-Videocard-PCI-Express/dp/B00465U4C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320688405&sr=8-1 (I'm worried about whether it would be a waste of money buying a new card as my computer is old, and may have viruses. What should I do? Edited November 7, 2011 by Kvatch132
Rydan
I'm not sure it's the best you can buy in that price range. I suggest you wait a little while for more comments here (especially from bben46) before choosing a card. Edited November 7, 2011 by Rydan
Maskar
The amd 6770 should be pretty good in that price range. For a bit more I would go for the 6850. Edited November 7, 2011 by Maskar
