Companions.

Is it just me or is having Companions going to be less useful/possibly less cheap in some cases? Take Oblivion for example! The game itself wouldn't recognize what a 'companion' was unless you had a mod. Fallout 3, I think would recognize some aspects. Fallout New Vegas finally caught on. But now Skyrim? Not only will Skyrim still catch on, but /YOU/ are the only one with a fighting chance against dragons. Companions in battle will possibly be useless against them unless you can prove me wrong.

Thoughts?

I hate the idea of companions. The best thing about Elder Scrolls is getting lost in the scenery - ALONE. It's YOUR story. If I wanted to play with other people I would enjoy a 4th Mass Effect 2 play-through, but I don't want to. Lets face it: Beth don't create the most interesting people or stories in the gaming industry. Plus, the last thing I want is an NPC to bug out and get stuck in a rock, or just randomly disappear to never be seen again.

Hopefully the game won't be too difficult without companions, because I don't plan on using them.

Being a Dragonborn really just means you can use their language, and absorb their souls. I think just about anyone can kill a dragon, but actually being about to DESTROY a dragon would mean you need it's soul, and normal people can't do that. At least that's my take on it. NPCs will probably be able to do damage, but you might be the only one who can kill.

I like the idea of companions and, occasionally, use them. Sometimes I feel like they can add a lot more to the story just by being there. I bet Bethesda has ironed out all the previous companion issues by now.
