Can't get F4SE to install properly

The F4SE crew are aware of the game update, so I'm sure they'll update the file soon. It's hard being patient since most of my game time is spent building settlements. I'm messing around with another game for now until I see the updated file on the F4SE page. Hang in there, Casey! :)

@Islandgirl We are using a rollback version of .205, F4SE v0.1.14 is working as intended.

@Caseypacific I have rolledback and installed latest version of the mod now. Unfortunately I have started a new game and cannot reach settlement yet. (But otherwise mod appears to be 100% working)

I think the problem might be place.ini might have it's extension set as " .example " instead of " .ini "

Please check \Documents\my games\Fallout4\F4SE\place_plugin.log

does it say...?

Config path: [your path]\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\place.ini
Could not read/parse config file [your path]\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\place.ini

Here's my F4SE.log. It says the mod is loaded correctly, but it still will not work. I tried hitting F8 twice as you suggested, but nothing happened.

F4SE runtime: initialize (version = 0.1.14 01050CD0 01D1C614B78B3868, os = 6.1 (7601))

I'll check on that. It did initially have it as place.ini.example, but I changed it to place.ini

Ok so we know the following:

F4SE is loading

Place.DLL (and mod) is loading.

Have you tried placing an object in the allowed zone, then pick it up and move it outside of build zone?

From my understanding. without changing .ini it should default to "always on, cannot be turned off"

-edit-

Can you use any of the other keys? like F1/F2/F3 ? They should produce a message on your screen.

I think I found the issue!!! Here's my place_plugin.log. It says there's an issue:

Indeed I have. I tried placing objects on the ground, and also on concrete foundations. Neither made a difference. I have hit every F-key other than F9 (It's my quickload button) and no notification has popped up thus far.

OK! I just loaded some one else's save.

1) Restart Fo4

2) Go to your settlement

3) Enter build mode

4) Place a bed inside of the normal building area

5) Pick up the bed and move it outside of the building area

6) press enter/place

If it does not allow placement press F1 and wait while still in build mode. Let me know if it produces text near the top left of the screen

This method worked for me.

-edit-

Otherwise there is only one other option I can think of, which isn't the "best" option

Why not email Beth, explain how IMPORTANT the use of F4SE is to so many of their customers, and request they stop forcing updates via steam that BREAK the game wthout warning.

Valve, Like Google and Microsoft, wants updates to be UNSTOPPABLE COMPULSORY changes to a user's system. But users have a RIGHT to NOT have their previously GOOD software installation BROKEN by an update, even if that user was using third-party tools to 'enhance' the application.

Customers of Beth have a right to be sickened by the damage to any of their installations caused by forced updates, and demand an appropriate response.

In the meantime WISE EXPERIENCED PC users ALWAYS turn off forced updates, and take responsibility for applying updates after inquiry and thoughtful consideration. Don't be a Beth sheep.
