gahnzz
So I was thinking earlier about the Day One patch and what could be in it. After all, both Hines and Howard have said in interviews that the game has been in a playable state for months and they've just been doing tweaks and bug fixes. What could have changed in the last two weeks to necessitate a day one patch? What if - just imagine - that the leak about werewolves was something that upset the powers that be and they are using a Day One patch to remove said content. Many things could be said about "removing content I paid for only to make it DLC later" when in fact that is not the case. People are purchasing whatever is officially released by Bethesda and a Day One patch removal would change that? Yes? No?
RitualBlack
I doubt they would do that. If they do, I will play unpatched for a while and deal with the bugs as I go :D
RejectedCamel
They can't do that, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to remove content from a game once it's been published. Plus, what would be the point anyway? The only reason they didn't reveal it was because they wanted fans to have an extremely pleasant surprise, and they wanted to reward exploration and questing. But guess what, some idiot had to go and ruin the surprise for everyone. Anyway, day 1 patch is simply a bug-squasher, mainly quest progression and stability fixes. Tweetybird
I'm sure the patch is to correct some things that were seen once the reviewers got a hold of their copies.
Deleted1600859User
Also the production of over a million copies of the game takes time, so they may have been produced some time ago to be sure the production count could meet demands and be sent all over the world in time for release. Just another factor that contributes to the day one patch that comes with many new releases.
xaliqen
There's no chance in the world this would ever happen, but I guess it's something we can all talk about to pass the time before Skyrim comes out.
hector530
you're confusing the music industry with the video game industry
Bukee
... or this is a, you know, a PATCH. You know, tweaks and bug fixes. New stuff appears after they're going gold, guess why they release patches after the initial release. Not everything has a deeper meaning or a conspiracy behind it. Magicman218
The day one patch is of course a bug fixer. But it's also a sort of security measure to discourage pirates and people getting the game early. If people get the game before the launch date, they'll get a buggy, screwed up version. I can pretty much guarantee the patch is there solely to fix bugs. There's no deeper meaning.
