Faster than a bullet, thinner than a dime,

Sooner beneath the surface, swiftly out of time.

Pockets of your life, so quick to slip away,

No hands to grasp or hold them, no words to even say.

A weight is pressing down, like an icy iron fist,

To struggle is a compliment, but it simply must insist.

Your heart pleas to negotiate, the pistons crank in place,

The hand is clinching fast, but who will win the race?

The light is fleeting out, the fingers sealing shut,

Can you feel it tug your feet as it pulls you to its gut?

What is there to do, who will hear your call,

Can anybody save you from Poseidon’s gaping maw?

Death’s the one to answer, he seeks a heart-to-heart,

He’s here to do the deal, he’s here to play his part.

There will be no escape, all debts are in their date,

Make sure to bear a smile, when he comes to seal your fate.

Such kindness brother. I shall send some mead your way. Just as soon as I get the dragon stables under control...
