Laws against bullying

Firstly, I don't think aggressive kids will stop beating their weaker classmates, bceause there is a law saying so.

It was always about how the parents and teachers could handle it, and I don't think any laws can change that, apart from making things more complicated.

So it's kinda unnecessary? I can accept that.

I don't know if unnecessary, maybe, just maybe, it may help some parents and / or teachers realize, that they should actually do something.

I just think the problems run deep with the serious cases and such things don't change because goverment says "Change!".

Of course, it always matters whether we talk about small elementary kid stealing pencase of another, some serious beating in highschools or "mind rape" at workplace.

Didn't think about that. I take back what I say in my reply. Might be a eye opener for parents. And might at least make younger kids realize how serious it is.

Why I think it's a bit of a blind shooting is because the kids don't care about laws. This is one of the cases where parents have to care and ... erm, educate.

But then again, if parents don't care at all, they will not start, and if they think it's ok because they perhaps did it too, they will rather pay some fine, heh.

Yeah. Comes down to the parents I guess.

Harassment, assault, and threatening behaviour are serious. The people who say that "kids will be kids" and that bullying is natural and harmless, are also often the first to call adults who are vicious to each other, or indeed teenagers and adults who victimize small children, slavering beasts or similar things.

What I'm saying is that there does need to be a system in place to deal with kids who harass, beat up and threaten others. I'm not sure that the criminal justice system is the way to do it for younger children, but it can be used for teenagers who commit serious offences. Nobody should have to worry that they will be attacked at school. Inevitability of this happening at least sometimes doesn't make it OK.

I don't think it should be a criminal thing. The school needs to deal with it. The problem is if the school doesn't deal with it.

There has to be another option then putting people into jail for bullying, which could encompass a lot of things.

What if you made a political statement in school and it was interpreted as "bullying?"
