xaliqen
It depends on how much bandwidth you have. For me, it took about 30 minutes. Hopefully, you're not on dial-up or something like that. It can probably take anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours depending. 30 minutes, c'mon man dont tease me like this D: You still get to play it earlier. I have to wait until either midnight California time or midnight Maryland time depending on whether they're doing it state-by-state or for the whole country at once. That's why I get games from Steam, most times it's quicker to d/l than it is to actually go to the store and get it!

I like the convenience and security. I think it's more likely there's an accident or something else in my house where my physical game discs are damaged than the possibility of Steam going out of business anytime soon. Getting games on Steam means if something bad happens, my games aren't affected. I know tons of people prefer to receive physical discs, but I'm okay with either at this point. xaliqen
Yeah i still like to buy the actual disc It seems there are more games recently (like Skryim) that give you a Steam activation in addition to having the disc, best of both worlds if you ask me. I guess we'll see if there are any hiccups in the process soon enough.

anandus
@Mysterious Traveler:So, let me get this straight:* You're lucky that you're Australian and as such can play the game in a few hours already* But you're unlucky as your plreoading isn't going very fast and need to wait a few extra hours? Damn, that's ironic :D

My download speed from Steam started at around 800kbps and was 10000kbps last I looked. At that speed I was at about 17% in 15 minutes. Dam ... I think work is going to get in the way.Hummm.... maybe I should tell my wife to get a job so I can stay home and play.
