Draconzis Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I am playing through Skyrim with a crap ton of mods that adds a crap ton of stuff and I recently seen USMP on the front page. But, it never occurred to me before this, but is there any problems that can arise from moving load orders mid playthrough? I'm not talking about making one mod overwright another and whatnot, but rather can just changing places of mods on the load order (for example, all mods being pushed down the load order by one from installed USMP) affect anything, such as items or NPCs? I have installed and uninstalled many mods mid playthrough before and didn't notice any immediate problems, but I would like to know for sure before I modify my game any further.
cdcooley Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 There's a reason you get a warning screen when you try to remove mods and you don't get one when adding mods. Bethesda supports adding mods to an existing game but not removing them. Inserting a new mod into your load order isn't a problem unless the specific mod has some conflict with the others. But uninstalling mods from an existing game is always a really bad idea, the problems created are rarely seen right away.
redrakiton125 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 If you modify your order in the middle of the game you will get errors because Skyrim remembers each script and variable that was in a installed mod. There is however Save cleaner and other tools that may get rid of some errors but you're files will never be pristine. If you are determined to make this changes then you should take a look at their guide http://warzones.skyrim.modunion.com/installation-checklist-cleaning-your-save/ Good luck

It's only deleting mods mid-game that's a problem.
NexusComa Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 When you remove mod(s) ... just load up the game say yes to the warning then go to the console with the ~ key (above the tab key). Then enter in PCB (Purge Cell Buffer) after that save your game and exit ... then reload - should be good to go.

That's the absolutely worst advice I've seen here in some time. Purge Cell Buffer does nothing but unload cells from memory that aren't needed. If you're just loaded the game it will do absolutely nothing since the only cells loaded are the ones you're in that can't be unloaded. Where do these ideas come from?
