MidbossVyers
According to uesp, it says that if you kill Arnora, after starting the quest but before talking to Jorundr, you will get infamy. To please Sithis, I followed this route. However, I found out that Arnora was tagged as essential and will only lose that after you get thrown in jail with Jorundr (for the quest's "good" endings). Therefore, I thought that this was a discrepancy on Bethesda's part (such as, during Through a Nightmare Darkly, if you remove Henantier's essential status and kill him before finishing the quest normally, you will actually get a special "bad ending"), so I removed Arnora's essential status and killed her. However, the quest didn't end with "Arnora's death occurred before I struck a bargain with Jorundr and if he would have rewarded me before, he certainly won't now.", and the only way I can end the quest is to kill Jorundr, too. In which case, I get, "One of the characters needed to complete this quest has died." Does "Arnora's death occurred before I struck a bargain with Jorundr and if he would have rewarded me before, he certainly won't now." not actually exist in-game? Same thing with the A Brush with Death quest, killing Tivela after starting the quest doesn't yield "One of the characters needed to complete this quest has died.".
