I preordered the game but I'm starting to wonder if I might be out another 700 dollars thinking it's time for a laptop upgrade, 90% of the games and mmos are not choppy at all but this laptop is about 2 years old, anyways here's my specs =

graphics... ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series

cpu... 64 bit AMD Sempron M120 2.10 ghz

RAM 2 gb, 1.7 gigs usable, can upgrade to 8 if it's not enough

64 bit windows 7 ultimate

200 gig hd

Please share your thoughts if you've gotten it to run using near this configuration or if you know a way to lower the settings even further than what the options allows the please share, thank you

Very Low / Low:

Radeon HD2400Pro 256MB

This is a lower quality card than yours, so you will probably be able to run it at the lowest settings, but don't expect any 60 FPS gameplay. You'll probably get somewhere close to 15 FPS at the lowest settings.

For the RAM, it's probably enough to run it because I have 2GB of RAM, too (the other 2GB decided they weren't going to work anymore) and it works with all the games I have.

The CPU is underpowered, though. It might work, but not very well.

In all, this laptop will probably run it... at around 8 FPS. If it gets any more than that, even on the lowest settings, I'll be surprised.

If you can, get a cheap desktop to play games. They don't need to be high-priced power machines to run games even at medium, even sub-$500 desktops will work. Also, performance mods like those made for Oblivion and other games will most likely come out for Skyrim in the near future.

You might not be able to kick back in a recliner, but I used to have my gaming PC hooked up to a widescreen TV to watch blu-ray movies on (yes, I have a blu-ray drive). I also had an Xbox 360 USB controller so I could play New Vegas on it, but that controller broke.

If you don't have a widescreen TV, there are VGA-to-Composite adapters you can buy from places like Amazon to use on a tube TV or otherwise non-HD/widescreen TV.

Oh, and the picture quality will be awesome.

Precisely what I'm planning to do with Skyrim. Got it all set-up ready.
